About a month about, the Wii U got its first "Minecraft" style game called "Cube Life: Survival Island". I grabbed it for the kids, who have been clamoring to play Minecraft and watch a ton of Minecraft youTube videos (ugh, Stampy, enough with that cackle!).

Version 1.1 Preview

It works fine, but is really basic. There is a survival mode (which I have not played) and a creative mode, which the kids and I have enjoyed. It is really artistically fun to think of something and build it in virtual 3D. Particularly with the kids' creations, it is like peering into their little minds.

As I said, the creative mode is really basic compared to Minecraft. There are a few screens of materials, nor doors or way to populate your world with people or pets, etc. BUT that is about to change.

I emailed Cypronia, its developer, about a long-rumored (and reportedly free) update to Cube Life, and boy did I get a thorough response. So here it is, N64Forever.com, breaking a little gaming news:

What I like about this, is they have a nice support group and waiting to make the game fun for everyone.

what I don`t like about this is.. it sounds that the 1.0 version is a incomplete game. and just released it, but this is just my point of view. also some graphic bugs what I see in the video .. like the reflecting.

There are games that got there 99.9% copy of Minecraft. (Fortnite, Trove, Gunscape, DragonQuest Builders, VOX, Blockland. and the list goes on and on and on.. more? ok.. Guncraft, The Blockheads, Castleminer, Terraria, Cubelands... ok enough now) so Nothing new here..

Hopefully they can add something which blows everyones mind!

Version 1.1 Preview Trailer added to first post. Details a few more features in survival mode, like fishing.

I really have no problem with the basic 1.0 release or Splatoon at release because of the learning curve. Sure, a Minecraft pro or online Shooter vet does not need to "get up to speed", but I sure did!

Just a quick update: The long awaited version 1.1 update is apparently being released today.

I wish developer Cypronia well, but between the time this update was announced and its release, an XBox 360 has invaded my house specifically for Minecraft, and, more generally, Minecraft has now been released for the Wii U. I think I know what the Magic 8-Ball's reply would be . . . .
