I currently have my dexdrive hooked up to a ye olden Windows 98 machine. It's not hooked up to the internet or anything, it's sole purpose is to use the DexDrive.

Let me mess around with my Windows 10 setup some and see if I can get something working.

Okay, here's a link to the software I'm using on Win 10: http://web.bgwillers.com/Dexplorer_Win_10_OK.zip

I am hooking it to the built in serial port on my motherboard (No AC adapter connected to DexDrive).

Curiously, it didn't recognize my memory card when I first inserted it. How ever I formatted it and it seems to be reading and writing fine.

Here's a save I just made: http://web.bgwillers.com/Dex_Test.N64

And here's my COM Port Settings:
Bits per second: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None

It's 2.00.902.

Link should be in my previous post. Let me know if it's not working!

I think so. The hangup for most people I think is getting a COM Port working on the newer OS. If you can get a functioning COM port, I think you'll be good to go!

Hmm... I just ran the autorun. Didn't have to use any Compatability settings or anything.

Are you extracting it first, or trying to run it from within the Zip? Mine was already extracted if that is worth anything.

Hey, Rocky. I just downloaded an was able to install that version of Dexplorer on my Win7 64 bit machine at work with no problems.

I wish I knew why it's not working on yours. Have you checked your Event Viewer to see if there's any clues?

Do either of you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable installed?

If you don't, here's the link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387
Install that, then re-run the autorun (may need to reboot after C++ 2005 install).

If you already have that installed I'll have to dig deeper.

Okay, a new option to try.

Download the 32bit Setup launcher here: http://toastytech.com/files/Is5Launcher.zip

REPLACE the Setup.exe file in the Dex_002_902 folder with the one you just downloaded.

After you've overwritten the old Setup.exe, Try installing the program by running the new Setup.exe.

Rocky, that happened to me once. It wouldn't read the card until I formatted it on the DexDrive. Then it worked on both the N64 and the DexDrive. Quite the pain since the whole point is NOT to lose data.

I'm not sure how to get around that.

Have you saved anything to these memory cards recently?

Dang it. I've slept since then. The 16bit vs 32bit installer issue sounds familiar. When I get back to my desk at home I'll look at the installer I used and try to help.

EDIT: Try this for Windows 10. LINK

If memory serves me right, I replaced the 16bit installer with a 32bit one in that package. Unzip completely. Then run the Autorun. Make sure you use Administrator privileges.

Man. I wish I could figure out what is different about my setup. That file works for me on Win 10 64 bit, and I just ran it again successfully on my work computer (Win 7 64 bit).

Here's a screen of what I have installed. You can also see where I installed the DexPlorer software just today.

I pulled up the registry tree, but I have no idea what to look for.
