This is probably a born dead topic, but I give a try.
I wonder what are the world records for each track in this games.

Rules:
- Simulation mode
- Original hardware with original controller
- Specify if you used any kind of shortcuts
- Pics or video proofs are obviously welcomed
- Specify if you used PAL or the NTSC Brazilian version
- Specify if you changed the car settings

I lost all my old records, in these days I'm working in some hot laps. I will update the topic with new records.

I really want to find someone ready to battle :-P

These times are provisional, mostly are just few tries. If someone manage to beat them, I'll try to do better.

In red: very good times that I can slightly improve, but are near to my limits.

AUSTRALIA:
1) Cristiano Trotta - M.Hakkinen - 1'22''863* NTSC
2) Italia64 - M.Hakkinen - 1'23''134* PAL

You say "Original controller". Can I use a Hori pad? There are no turbos or special buttons, I just like its build better.

TIPS

Green line: usually the best choice, start to brake always after the brake signs on the road, but not too late. Brake and turn at the same time is almost always the best thing to do, but after long straight roads (300 kmh or more) use a strong braking before starting to curve.

Blue line: this line is ideal for all the speed curves in the game that are passable without braking. In fact, often if you use the green line for these curves, you would lose time, as you would have to brake or close the gas.

Red line: avoid this trajectory, you would lose a lot of time and velocity. This trajectory is useful only for overtakes.

Edit: Italians don't do it better. I beaten my record using McLaren, 1'13''400 is now my best time.

Summing my best intermediates I discovered that 1'12'998 would be my best lap.
Here's my face when I figured out that 1'12''xxx is possible.

Two good news.

My brother joined the battle and he made some very good laps on Canada and Belgium.
Back in days he was an ace but seems that he's still very good. We'll see :-P
Probably a Brazilian friend will join the battle too ;-)

And I broken the 1'13''00 wall!
Yesterday I won a full lap grand prix on Monaco, on hardest gaming settings (maximum difficult, realistic damage, etc.), which are 78 laps.
And today I trained on Monaco for 3 consecutive hours.
Here's the result!

Posted Image

Summing my best intermediates the best possible time is 1'12''375 so far.
That's so rewarding!

Hey Dan.
Me and the Brazilian friend want to discover right that.
The only way to discover it is that I try both versions :-P
He's looking for a NTSC copy for me;-)

Great news for the topic.
An Italian friend of mine is working a lot for the records. We're battling, and the challenge is so epic.

Take a look at the times. Thanks to him I'm bettered four of my provisional times (Brasil, Canada, Great Britain and Spain). When you have a target it's very funny.
Maybe I will reach the limit in all the tracks, like I did in Montecarlo.
Tomorrow I'll work on Spain and France to achieve the best time.
We hope to find other challengers ;-)

I'm very proud of my time in Canada.

I'd be interested in competing in something like this. I was big fan of race simulators back in the day (mostly Grand Turismo) and it'd be fun to see who has better times on different tracks. Unfortunately, I'm from the USA so I don't have access to F-1 Racing Championship. Do you consider this game to be the best racing simulator on the N64? I have F1 World Grand Prix, in your opinion, is it not good enough to justify competing in it?

I played a lot with F-1 WGP (especially with the second chapter, which is a PAL exclusive), and I like it. Graphics, sounds, attention to detail, options, etc. are better in F-1 WGP.
But F-1 Racing Championship has a physics/controls/skills required combo which is unmatchable in my opinion. When you set a perfect lap it's so rewarding, because the drive must be perfect.
F-1 WGP oversteer physics is very unrealistic, and the unintuitive control system (for the sharp curves you have to lower the thumbstick). The game is slower, and the drive style is not like the real F-1, like F-1 RC is.

But if you want you can try Monaco Grand Prix, which was released in USA. The game is the same. The only difference is that in MGP there is Argentina track, instead in F-1 RC there is Malaysia.
I don't know if the NTSC version is faster, I think yes.
By the way, you can play the Brazilian version of F-1 RC (which is NTSC) or play it on Everdrive 64 ;-)

Yesterday I met for the first time Cristiano Trotta! He's spending the holidays near to my city, so we met and, of course, we played F1 RC. Race against a very strong opponent...great moment!

Cristiano is the Italian guy who settled the records in many tracks. We raced for the fastest times in several tracks the other day. It was very interesting notice the different styles and braking points.
We have to meet again Monday, I can't wait!
