@Milage: Has promise. Need to smooth out a few regional issues I presume . . . like we have "Chutes and Ladders" which is a commercially modern version of "Snakes and ladders" apparently (so says wikipedia). Draughts is checkers here . . . I did not know that until this a.m.

Monopoly, Clue, Chess, Checkers/Draught, Chutes-Snakes and Ladders, Othello, Candyland, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Risk, Battleship, Connect Four, Operation, Pictionary. . . . how we doing so far?

Sounds good to me, anybody else???

I think we have a solid amount there for a decent game. All my favourites are in there. I think any others would just be making up numbers unless somebody feels strongly about any others?

Stinger suggested three excellent newer ones: Cranium, Balderdash and Scattergories. That brings us to 20 with a pretty solid list, but let's see if we get a few more suggestions.

Monopoly,
Clue,
Chess,
Checkers/Draught,
Chutes-Snakes and Ladders,
Othello,
Candyland,
Trivial Pursuit,
Scrabble,
Risk,
Battleship,
Connect Four,
Operation,
Pictionary,
Life,
Sorry
Twister,
Balderdash,
Scattergories, and
Cranium

Oh, i see now! :yeah:

How about

Yahtzee
Mouse Trap
Monster Mash
Guess Who?
Trouble
And the rare Double Trouble.

I remember most of these from my childhood very fondly.
Let me throw UNO, Hungry Hungry Hippos, KerPlunk, Jenga, and Simon in there as well. :P

Yeah you got to have Guess Who if you're going to have Connect 4!!! Both classics.

@BDR - I have seen Noc-Hockey, so yeah, also a good shout.

And to add some modern board games to the mix, kartmaster suggested Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, and Pandemic.

From a meager list of 13, we now have a solid 25 (and we really need to cap it at 25). Any major objections to this list:

Balderdash
Battleship
Candyland
Checkers/Draught
Chess
Chutes-Snakes and Ladders
Clue
Connect Four
Cranium
Guess Who?
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Jenga
Monopoly
Mouse Trap
Munchkin
Operation
Pandemic
Pictionary
Risk
Scattergories
Scrabble
Settlers of Catan
Trivial Pursuit
Trouble
Twister

KerPlunk
Life
Monster Mash
Othello
Simon (opens a field of electronic devices)
Sorry (similar to Trouble)
UNO (really a card game)
Yahtzee (really a dice game)

I agree. The ones that didn't make the cut are a good comparison to what a board game should be.

This should turn out to be a good game!

I agree with that list and very keen to make a good fist of this as there are some games in there that are really enjoyable. Thanks for your input all and looking forward to getting underway!
