It was tough limiting myself like this, but I've got 10 games I think are the cream of the crop... from that era... in my game collection. None of these are in order, so I won't number 'em. Also, this is going off of the North American releases.

- Rayman 2: The Great Escape
- Harvest Moon 64
- Super Smash Bros.
- Mario Party
- Hybrid Heaven
- Perfect Dark
- Shadow Man
- *Resident Evil 2/Pokemon Stadium 2
- WWF Wrestlemania 2000
- *Mega Man 64/Castlevania

* = Switch out the first game with the second game if ports of games from before the era don't count.

Nah you don't you got it nailed you're buying loads of N64 stuff lol. So many good games I wanted to say Pokemon Snap as well I was well amongst the Pokemon hype and this game was awesome in my opinion. I have to admit by the time they started making the new Pokemon / Pokemon Stadium 2 I had sort of lost interest in Pokemon to that extent. I think just the originals keeps me happy and the memories from that.

Still have my original Pokemon card set and also the Dark set including the illusive Dark Raichu - card 83/82 or something. A lot of people had to get hurt in order for me to get my hands on that lol! Jokes! But it wasn't easy to get hold of.

You mention Dark Raichu from the Team Rocket set, I think I've got a Dark Flareon. I feel special.
Isn't card collecting the best?

I definitely enjoyed it a lot back in the day. It's nice having those collections to look back over. There are still certain cards like Dark Raichu which stand out to me and I remember what was involved and what I had to go through to get some of those cards. Some great memories.

You still actively trying to pickup the set(s) Bam?

Funny that you guys would bring up Pokemon cards. I actually got back into collecting them last month andx while I started by buying the newest expansion (BREAKthrough as of this post), I switched over to these repackaged cards by MJ Holding because they usually come with at least one card from the '99-2000 (back when I was collecting them originally). Nothing I got was rare or anything, but it's nice to have cards like Omanyte and Dark Primeape back in my possession after all this time. Not to mention I also got a spanish Shuckle out of one pack. That got a laugh out of me.

Back on topic, it looks like I'm also guilty of forgetting a title. Resident Evil 2 now shares a spot with Pokemon Stadium 2 in my original post for the same reason why Mega Man 64 didn't get it's own slot.

I never got into Pokemon trading cards, I was more into football (American) cards. Never really thought I would like Pokemon either. I thought I was too old or too cool for it at the time but my cousin talked me into trying his copy of Pokemon Blue (I think) and I really enjoyed it so I bought my own copy of Pokemon Red and realized it was a blast. When Snap came out I figured it was something different so I picked that up not really expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised.

Add Duke Nukem : Zero Hour to that list of mine.

Huge levels, nice and challenging and constant hilarious pop culture references and Duke quotes.
Some say the levels are a little too big, but the difficulty seemed just right for the most part.
Very satisfying.

Oh and I also loved how Duke would dress appropriately for the level.

I never cared for Pokemon Cards but some of my mates are nuts about it.
They to to tournaments and stuff and even have travelled overseas for it.

Paper Mario has to be in there. My favorite N64 game hands down. So much charm and the NPCs are something else. :)

Yeah the last ever released game on the 64 and quite significantly later than the penultimate (released 2002 I believe). Crazy!

Was that penultimate game the Powerpuff Girls game?

I never realized how many of the games I love are from the later era. I guess I think of Super Smash Bros as an early game because of its graphics, but there's that one and also...

Mario Party 2 (I still think this is best of the three)
Mario Tennis
Pokemon Stadium (I still like it better than the sequel)

And that Rugrats game I won't shut up about :)

Bomberman 2001 was the penultimate game if you are counting Japan, in America it was NFL Blitz Special Edition, Razor Scooter, then Powerpuff. At least according to Wikipedia which is a free website mate.

Nobody has mentioned Starcraft in this thread yet oddly depite how crazy good it is when it had no reason to be. Goemon 2 just barely missed the 1999 date in Japanese but it feel like it's from that era. I mean 1999-2001 is like half the lifespan so tons of good games there, most the best ones have already been mentioned. Japan got some great exclusives like Bangaio, Custom Robo V2, and Shiren 2 late in the game. Any others aren't exactly in contention for "the best" at least for English sensibilities but there were lots of other good ones in there.

I just realized that 99 was the year I started to read Nintendo Power and transition from "kid with a console" to "gamer". That's probably why the games from this era in particular are such a big deal to me, bigger than the early games in the n64's lifespan. All the Pokťmon games were from this era and that's still one of my favorite franchises, along with smash bros, Mario Party, and the Mario sports games.
