Some big doings in Nintendo world today. First, you can register for the new My Nintendo service. https://accounts.nintendo.com/login This is the replacement for Club nintendo. It seems to be focused on rewarding the purchase of digital downloads and cellphone play. Speaking of which, in many countries, miimoto pre-registration is available: https://miitomo.com/ |

Miimoto is a mobile game (cell phone and tablets) made by nintendo that is an online social game where you play as your mii and interact with other people's mii. It is said to be somewhat similar to Tomadachi Life if you know what that is |

Good explanation Knightly! It's also Nintendo's first foray into cellular games, though it appears to be more like a social networking app than a game. Many were disappointed that Big N did not lead its cell phone efforts with Mario, but I think that is coming. |

![]() I hope those are just alternatives or in addition to the points you can earn with physical purchases. If this is for digital and cell phone purchases only, I don't see myself earning many points with this new system. |

There are to be two types of point systems: "Platinum Points" are to be earned by playing apps on your smart device, by logging into the Nintendo eShop, and by meeting specific requirements. Reportedly, they can be exchanged for digital content and original goods. "Gold Points" are to be earned by purchasing Nintendo eShop offerings. They can be exchanged for discount coupons on Wii U and 3DS downloadable software. The glaring hole is the lack of any points for physical purchases (and my paranoia of a download only NX console grows ). (BTW, you will apparently earn Platinum Points by pre-registering for Miimoto.) |

I really hope that you're wrong... I would hate a download only console... How am I supposed to collect things if there is nothing physical to collect!

Believe me, I agree. But I think we are dealing with a situation very analogous to retail music. First, those awesome long boxes containing the CDs were ended. The jewel box era lasted for a bit, but now, digital rules. Can't tell you when I last bought a CD . . . . The industry sees an elimination of costs and cutting out middlemen. But they seem not to realize or care that customer experience is weakened quite a bit. Loved delving into linear notes and game manuals..... |

My last CD was bought in the last week of 2015 ![]() If it's going toward a CD-like setting, digital will rule, but physical will always be available. I can live with that. |

I signed up. I'll proceed into Miitomo (Which I always see Miyamoto when I look at that name) with cautious optimism. Hoping it doesn't end up being like Street Pass, which is a feature and concept that I really love, that I never get to use in the real world. |

Wait, it's not Miyamoto?! I agree with kartmaster and hope this turns into something I'll use and have fun with, and maybe learn more about you guys, who are my only friends on Nintendo Network. EDIT: Annnnd it looks like I created a new NNID when I signed in with Google.
