Like more than a few of you here, I just received my copy of Twilight Princess HD. Popped it in last night and my journey has begun. Particularly excited as this is my first time; the gamecube is my main Nintendo blindspot

Wondering if anyone is also playing through and wants to post progress and exchange thoughts, tips, etc. I do expect this thread will contain SPOILERS, but then again, many of you already know the game form its original release.

great purchase!

one word of advice / warning: this game begins really slow. maybe the slowest a zelda has ever begun.

as you have already noticed, you will be a wolf for a long time. you might be mistaken to think the wolf aspect takes up the bulk of the game. well you would be wrong. the game is massive, and the wolf levels are 10% of the game, at most. just know that, once you get past the long intro; the use of wolf will be optional. just look at the wolf aspect as yet another way in solving puzzles. it's a bit like wearing iron boots to walk on the bottom of lakes; here you use the wolf to solve wolf related puzzles.

i suggest you plow through, till you reach the hyrule field and have your horse (again, not a spoiler: its on the back of the box). then tell me what you think of the game 8) but, it's a long way getting there. once you are, the game really starts. enjoy!

Nice idea, playing through the Bayonetta games this way with you was great. I plan on playing this next when I finish assassins creed syndicate.

Thanks action and buddy! I will likely move at a snail's pace so plenty of time to catch up to me, as I'm sure there will be some "how in the heck does one beat Grace and Glory ?!?!?" moments that we might be able to work through together.

My friend and I do playthroughs of games like this all of the time and actually did one for the Wii version of Twilight Princess last year. I'm not planning to get the HD version anytime soon, but I hope you all have fun. Like action stated, this game has a VERY slow start, but it does pick up. Stick with it. :)

Just started playing tp this evening. About 2 hours in and enjoying it so far. Only played this once before so don't really remember much. Definitely starts slow though

Excellent! I need some added incentive. Stalled last night on the first underwater dungeon in wolf form. Pulled a few handles but did not really grasp the wolf attacks.

Update: out of the water dungeon, up on the rooftop. Now wrestling with fighting mechanics regarding bird attacks.

Met Midna's friend and made it back to Ordon. Collected the requisite items and it's back to Faria Woods. Still a pooch. Is that Soda Jungle lake ?!?!

I really like this game for GC and Wii. I've thought about picking it up for Wii U even though I don't have U to play it on.

Played around 12 hours so far and just up to the boss of the water temple. Thought this the first time I played it and again now but Epona handles much worse in TP compared to OoT, anyone else found it hard to control?

relax. you'll get used to it ;) personally i dont find an issue with it. maybe it's because the horse riding in TP has a lot more parameters in it's code than in OoT?

people say otherwise, but TP and Oot are massively different, in tone, in scope, in story... i find TP has a lot more "lifespan" than Oot if you get my drift. since the world is so huge finding heart containers is much harder in TP than in Oot. the amount of heart containers is also increased in TP.

the dungeons feel much more a continuation of the overworld than the dungeons in Oot. where in Oot the dungeons look a bit dull compared to the overworld, in TP they look highly distinct and organic. compare the forest temple as an example and you'll see where i come from.

TP needs time. it gets better the more you play it. even the fighting is rewarding, with lots of combos and challenge.

For me, I don't see the point of these remakes, I'd rather just play the proper, original GameCube version.
(On an 80cm CRT  )
BUT, for those who get to experience it for the first time, you are in for a treat!

I think this game has aged exceptionally well.
It kind of got forgotten, and judged badly for the dumbest things, but for the fans, and people who have an attention span better than a brick this game is incredible.
Played through it 2-3 times and I think it got better each time.
Get on it!

Spoiler: click to toggle

Played a bit more tonight and completed the temple of time. Having only played this once on the Wii I'm really appreciating how good this is on a second play through. The sword play on this is much better than any Zelda game I think. Loads of moves to learn and use. Maybe not using motion controls is helping me see how good it can be lol

I've said it before but 10 years since TP? Wow. Also does the HD version use the GameCube or flipped Wii version as it's base? The GC version in wide screen would be the definitive version.

It uses the gamecube version and I think it looks pretty good to be honest.

A couple more hours put into TP last night, currently half way through the sky temple, is this the longest Zelda game?

I don't know if Skyward Sword was longer or not. I never finished it. I need to go back and play TP again though.

Took around 35 hours to complete but really enjoyed playing through this one. I didnt go for 100% complete in fact i'm not sure if I even did 20% of the side quests but the main story kept me busy. Usually I would use a walkthrough on the tough parts but didnt reallly feel it was needed on this one. Even though I've played it before I didn't really remember any of the puzzles.
