Hello all!

Mario Kart narrowly defeated Majora's Mask to be out 64th Game of the Month.

I can't think of a more deserving title. Mario Kart has generated possibly more buzz on this forum than any other game on the system. It is a game I loved back when it first came out. I go back to several times a year, and now I play it with my daughter.

It is as simple as they come, and the graphics are dated. It does not matter though because it is as fun as it ever was :yeah:

Nice! Great game and once I convince Linus to send me one of his amazing thumbsticks, I'll be climbing the leader board!

It even won in the return of H&H, Best :n64: Games. MK64, as you mentioned, is indeed deserving of these titles as it does hold up today, and quite well.

I agree. Brilliant title. A must have in any 64 collection. I've had hours of fun on this over the years solo and multiplayer alike.

I need to try and get up there on the hot lap thread. It is not something I have tapped into yet but when things settle down I'll be showing my face there for sure.

It's hard to describe the gravity of this game for me. So many memories and so much time invested. This was also the first video game I bought entirely with my own money.

Still the best in the series if you ask me.

.
Definitely the best of the series.
Love the brutality of the weapons, things like how the red shell knocks you up and forward so you can knock people clean off the track.

The physics seem spot on for the fun.
A beloved game by both casual and hardcore fans.

I remember at school, we would have like a 10 minute reading session after lunch...
The perfect time to read over the Mario Kart 64 instruction book and study the track maps, stats and facts.
Rainbow Road - 2000 metres.

Definitely one of my favorite Mario Kart racing games, had many happy times playing it with my twin brother and my next door neighbor. Just imagine the suprise where one of us turns into a bomb if you are playing three or more players in battle mode ( oh my, we laughed our butt of for at least five minutes) and spent many many hours playing it and loving it. Almost completed it myself, only have one cup to finish in the entire game, and then I've offically completed it :)

Did you know that this game (along eith some Mortal Kombat games) got my dad back into playing games with me? I picked this game up (along with several others) last year at a thrift store for cheap and now we play through this game regularly. It brings back old memories of when we (my dad, my younger brother and I) would race each other for hours and hours. My dad would even bring the N64 over to the after school program we went to on Fridays and all of the kids got a chance to race. It was really cool because it was a very poor neighborhood and a lot of the other kids didn't have games to play at home.

So you can bet that I have absolutely zero problems with this game winning the vote over Super Smash Brothers. It helped with giving me a terrific childhood and revived gaming time with my dad. He's gotten better since I was a kid... or maybe I've gotten worse.

My friends and I used to go to Royal Raceway (think that was it) and just good off riding around the castle courtyard. Did anybody else ever do this? :)
