I noticed my Panasonic 3do gets warm near the back when it's plugged in even when I am not playing it. Is that normal?

Both the n64 and the ps4 have 64 bit processors. Now I'm not saying the 64 could run crysis at 60 fps but I'm not saying it couldn't.

The N64 actually does the same. That's why when using retro consoles you should always have a switchable power strip so you can turn them completly off or ofc you can also just unplug the console from the wall after use.

When I shoot, I shoot to film
This happens with almost every device that has a voltage converter on it. For example my mac book has that white block that converts AC/DC currents to a certain voltage and even when its not plugged into my computer the white box will still be warm. This is because no matter if its plugged in or not, its always converting the current to whatever the device needs. So for the N64 that black box is doing the same thing. A switch is a great idea to prevent the black box from converting power all the time, while it's not damaging to the N64, it might just cause general wear on that power adapter.
