About to get my console out of storage.

After going three years without a game system when my SNES bit the dust for the second time, getting an N64 with DK 64, Namco Museum, and NFL Quarterback Club '99 for Christmas '99 was a happy, happy time.

It remained my sole console until I got a PS2 in 2002, and until 2004 or so I still used it quite a bit. By then, I moved onto other things, and it was mainly dragged out for the occasional family Hydro Thunder match.

But given the death of the 360/Wii/PS3 generation and my lack of any newer console, I've been going back to my older stuff lately, and since I'm making a trip home this weekend, I'm going to be getting my N64 out of storage (it's in a nice shoebox in my old closet).

My N64 gaming was decidedly odd when the system was on the market, as I didn't have a lot of the 'usual' games.

Games I had when it was on the market:

  • DK64
  • Namco Museum
  • NFL QBClub '99
  • Hydro Thunder
  • Rush 2049
  • Mario Party 2
  • Mario Party 3
  • WCW/NWO Revenge
  • Harvest Moon 64

So yeah, hardly any Rare titles, and few of the 'big' games. (We rented a lot). Though given the prices today on some of the games I do have, maybe that wasn't such a bad thing.

I've been picking up the occasional game this year since I've been planning to grab the console, so I've since added the following:

  • Quake II
  • Fighters Destiny
  • Perfect Dark
  • Wave Race 64

I'll keep adding titles, though I'll probably pass on the three that got 3DS remakes.

Anyway, I'll be around.

Welcome to the forum TWF. The N64 just has us all coming back in one way or another that's what brings us all here.

You sound like you'll get along fine here. Goldeneye 007 is a must have if FPS is your kind of thing. I take it you are interested in some of those having picked up Quake II and Perfect Dark recently to try out...?

I have the XBLA remake of PD, and enjoy PDZ + the novels and graphic novel, so know I'll enjoy it.

Goldeneye's on the list to get, I just haven't picked it up yet.

DKR was a common rental back in the day. I am planning to get stuff like MK64 sometime soon, but I have to balance N64 collecting with Saturn collecting.

I could never get into NiGHTS: Into Dreams, the design just didn't flow well, not very fun.

Congrats on getting your old N64 stuff back, never be without N64.

I did a quick search and it looks like there are at least 3 different Saturn 3D controllers from around the world!
How cool is that?

I never owned a Saturn, but playing that game with those controllers was one of the best SEGA experiences i've ever had! :yeah:
