Endure and survive...
Hello everyone. Quake is our June winner.

I never owned it, but I did get to play it some. I enjoyed Doom on the SNES and Wolfenstein on the PC, so I expected a quality title in Quake. I just tried the multi-player. I would say it was just a few hours overall. It didn't touch Goldeneye or Perfect Dark (What does? ) But I would rank it just behind some of the Turok games in terms of death match fun on the 64.

What say you all?

A worthy winner. A decent little PC port which works well on the N64. I have only ever completed the first few levels but the play was smooth and not too taxing holding up reasonably well. I do need to revisit and complete this title - it is in the long queue of games to own.

Always had a blast with this game, like mentioned it isn't on the same level as Goldeneye and Perfect Dark but it does well as a FPS

Really nice game.. completed it a few times! Enjoyable!
Love the fact that you can turn off the filter. The game looks nicer that way.

I remember reading an ad that promoted Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails exclusively scoring part or parts of the soundtrack.

How accurate is this?

He did, but not for the N64 version. PC and Saturn only, N64 had a unique soundtrack necessitated by the cartridge format.

The boxes of nails have NIN on them (PC and SAT only again IIRC) for this reason.

Very strange. Having Quake on the Nintendo 64 was a big deal back then.
I'd like to find where i read that because it was N64 related!

Amen! I've never even touched the first Quake before (to my knowledge) but, if it's even a third as good as Quake II then it deserved to win more than South Park ever did.

Quake 64 is a quality shooter and I really enjoyed it's dark atmosphere.

I didn't play a lot of the mid to late 90s N64 PC shooter conversions until around 2010 due to Goldeneye and Turok etc being so good that nothing else got a look in.

When I finally started playing through them, it was quite a joy, ended up going through Turok 3, both Duke Nukem games, Doom 64 and both Quakes.

All fantastic games, can't wait to one day play through again.
