Nintendo at E3 at NOON NYC time; What will Big N Reveal?

E3 is underway and today is Nintendo's day to shine. At NOON NYC time, Nintendo will make a 25 minute digital presentation. Reggie has promised some reveals and first looks. After the presentation, Treehouse will follow. Reggie also said some news will be announced during Treehouse, which may keep some riveted to the screen.

Prior presentations including those by EA, Bethesda and UBiSoft have included some support for the Switch. Should be interesting to see what else is in the pipeline for the Switch, the 3DS and perhaps mobile.

At this point I'm completely snubbing modern gaming. I have none of the consoles and after watching the other press conferences not one game has interested me at all. But I'm always interested to see what Nintendo does even if a lot of it doesn't grab me.

I wish for a stellar Wave Race sequel with ground breaking wave physics and HD rumble developed in Japan.

This or a 30 player online F-Zero game would push me to buy a Switch.

I think there is a global consensus that a new (and proper) Wave Race, F-Zero or Metroid title would be a home run. Should be interesting to see, as I read that the demographics of the early Switch adopters are largely 20 and 30 year olds (and those are games of their childhoods!).

I'm quite pleased with that presentation. Xenoblade for this year, SM Odyssey in October, and Metroid Prime 4 confirmed to be in development? No complaints from me.

Super Mario Odyssey looks like it's dressed to impress!!
It will be cool to see a SMO Miitomo theme hopefully soon.

Metroid and an RPG Pokemon eventually are exciting stuff and Mario Odyssey looks even more fantastic than I could conceive. But boy I'd love to play the re-make of Metroid II for the 3DS on my Switch!

Mario can possess and play as different creatures with his hat? The spirit of Space Station Silicon Valley lives on ;_;

And off topic but Yooka-Laylee had inspirations directly from Chameleon Twist according to the developers. I love seeing mechanics from 20 year old N64 games remerging in these newer releases and that's not even sarcasm.

I'm with you on modern gaming ShellShocker, and it's understandable. FPS ad nauseum.
However SMO and SM64 seem very similar, and that is eerily awesome! :yeah:

The tease about Metroid Prime 4 probably satisfied some fans but overall I found Nintendo's presser somewhat disappointing. Perhaps I'm just bitter because Pokken Tournament DX for the Switch is going to have the additional characters that I hoped we'd get as DLC on the Wii U. <_<

Out of all the E3 news, the specs on the Xbox One X are the only thing I found mildly interesting. Microsoft is serious in their arms race against Sony because the XOX is packing some major league power.

In terms of software there are so many games I'd hoped to see at E3 including; Wave Race Switch, F-Zero Switch, Armored Core 6 or Frame Gride 2, Super Smash Bros. 5 (or perhaps even Sm4sh DX), Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 2, Mario Golf Switch, Mario Strikers Switch and perhaps a Nintendo exclusive first-person-shooter with a more serious tone than Splatoon. Oh well, maybe next year.

I think we might be granted a glimpse of Metroid 4 today . . . just a hunch that Ninty is going to do something to leave a lasting impression as E3 comes to a close.

I'm just glad we're getting a good side scrolling Metroid on the 3DS. Preordered that and the Amiibo yesterday. :)

It's Time for the E3 Press Conference to Die

Quote:

FOR THE PAST few years, conventional wisdom in the videogame industry has dictated that the best way to reach gamers is directly. That's why the tradeshow E3 has long kicked off with the Big Three: Console manufacturers Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo stage massive press conferences, livestream them, and fill social media and YouTube with trailers, promotions, and any and all marketing slogans they've dreamed up.

This year, though, all three publishers hit their respective stages - in the case of Nintendo's online-only stream, that stage being metaphorical - without much of anything to announce. That conventional wisdom, it seems, has its limitations. In fact, if this year's show tells us anything about the state of the gaming industry, it's that the major gaming press conference might be obsolete...

I was pretty satisfied with what Nintendo showed.

Metroid Prime 4 will be great. For whatever reason, Metroid has never hooked me though. I own Prime 1, but never beaten it.

I think I'm the only one that isn't excited about Super Mario Odyssey. I'm not digging the asthetic, but I trust that it will be a fantastic game and that they know better than me.

Yoshi looks pretty standard for the series, and I mean that as a good thing.

Same thoughts on Kirby.

Fire Emblem looks sweet for Fire Emblem fans. And Xenoblade Chonicles X taught me I'll only ever be able to really enjoy those games if my family leaves me and I get fired from my job, otherwise I'll never have time.

But actually looking forward to Rocket League! Never played it but looks like good simple fun.

I used to LIVE for E3 back in the early 2000's. It was so exciting. But I think the article Grizz posted is pretty spot on. It's so easy to reach your prime customer base directly, that you don't need big shows and media events to get the word out effectively anymore. It almost like everyone does E3 because they don't want to be the only big dog that doesn't show up. But sooner or later, one of the big three will make that decision, and whoever jumps first, the others will follow quickly.

 That's how I feel about story driven games in general. I never have the time to finish them or even keep at them long enough for the story to resonate with me. Sadly, that's where the video game industry is going as proven by Sony and Microsoft's E3 press conferences.

I feel like that too. But then I glance down at my Switch and see 150+ hours on BotW and realize that the Switch is a game changer for me in this regard.

This was an interesting revalation - Atari is indeed working on a new console, says CEO. :o

Was this done just so the Blade Runner 2049 trailer wouldn't be entirely anachronistic?

My last post deserves an update.

ATARI REVEALS FIRST IMAGES, MORE DETAILS OF ITS NEW ATARIBOX CONSOLE

Quote:

In an email to fans, the company explained that the console will feature "modern internal specs", allowing it to include classic games (perhaps suggesting a NES Classic-like library of retro games), as well as deliver "current gaming content".

If I'm not mistaken, both Primal Rage and Mace: The Dark Age are Atari games. Perhaps we'll get updates on the new machine?

Let's continue this discussion with a new topic in the Other Games section.
Is there really enough interest? I'm by no means an Atari fan so I doubt I can add much. Besides, to my mind the console market is already saturated. I want more arcade-style games rather than another console but perhaps I'm in the minority.
