Drop Kirby, definitely not "all" Mario games (Not that they are bad) not the Pokemon games. Not Smash.
The question is what constitutes "definitive". Was it done better on another console? Arguably, Smash 64, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis had superior sequels on the GameCube. (Obviously up for debate - I prefer smash 64 to Melee).

I would at least include Smash 64 as definitive because it started off an incredibly popular series.

Mario Golf and Mario Tennis are debatable, but Mario Tennis is where the definitive Mario sports roster really began, including Daisy, Birdo and Waluigi.

The Pokémon games are a bit more tricky. Definitely not all of them...

Puzzle League wasn't released in all regions (no Japan) and most people know it better as Tetris Attack on the SNES

I would include Snap and Stadium 1 (NA/Europe's Stadium 1, not Japan's incomplete original) because they did something no one else had done before. Stadium 2 could technically replace Stadium 1 but it was in essence an expansion pack and not nearly as popular as the first.

Sadly I'm with you on Kirby. I loved the game but yoshi's story did the cutesy platformer better and MP/Stadium had better minigames.

Speaking of MP, would only one of the Mario Party series be the "definitive" one? And if so which?
It must be exciting to never have played a Zelda game before - No64DD
