Nice new TV! I'd think it's probably the s-video to HDMI converter. To get to the bottom of this I would go here:

Shmups hardware


The guys here are among the most knowledgable on the net for this kind of stuff & they'll sort you out.

[Edit: you'd need to specify to them exactly what converter you're using.]

Great suggestions - one thing I ran across with the ultraHDMI is that the retro setting didn't look good with a friend of mine's 4K LG LCD. Perhaps it was the scaling engine but the scanlines were represented so harshly it was almost unwatchable - although the line doubled 'sharp pixels' setting was fine. Your LG might be different as it's an OLED and perhaps has a different scaler. I thought it was worth mentioning - It would be good to try one out first but that's easier said than done!
