Time for nominations once again, but lately we have a made some changed to GotM. I am now including an eligible game list to help folks know what games are open for nomination. Here is how it works: Each member gets to nominate 1 game that was not in the top 20 in sales. The topic will remain open for a week to ten days. At which point, I will write each of the nominations on a piece of paper, and draw 5 total out of a bowl. Those 5 will then be put to a vote for the rest of the month to decide the official "Nintendo 64 Forever Game of the Month". You may nominate a game already chosen by another member if you wish too, but only one piece of paper per game nominated will be put in to the bowl. If someone has already nominated a game you wished to nominate, please consider going with your 2nd choice. Those nominated that are not drawn out as well as the 4 that lose the vote will be eligible for re-nomination next month if you so choose. In case anybody is lost here, the idea is for you to play the winning game for a bit, and then comment on your thoughts after playing. We used to discuss things like game play, graphics, sound, controls, replay value, as well as how the game has stood the test of time. This is a great chance to discover fun games you perhaps missed out on. Also please feel free to participate by sharing thoughts and memories of the game. If you do not own the winning game; perhaps consider borrowing, buying, emulation, or perhaps even check for it on the virtual console. Any questions? Just ask away... Tigger's Honey Hunt. I can't keep re-explaining it every month but yeah I think this is well worth GOTM. |

I've been playing games in such a high quantity and such a vigorous rate for the N-Cyclopedia that it's hard to get involved in these game threads because my mental energy is running on low. Though I do love me some Fighters Destiny. For the record I think that it's not a replacement for the $60 triple A fighter the N64 desperately needed, but it's part of that really cool era where there were literally hundreds of fighting games and some of them turned into one of a kind things that are just really fun to play now, while now I feel fighting games are so homogenised despite their differences. I got it for free and couldn't have been happier, I think it's still $5 at my local game store which is crazy good, usually fighting games are one of those "high class" genres like RPG's that go up to ludicrous prices. |

I second Goemon's Great Adventure (or Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon 2, as it was known here). One of my favorite games of all time and so underrated. One of the best 2.5D platformers out there (period, not just N64), with wacky humor and an amazingly catchy and well done soundtrack, especially the castle-stages! And let's not forget that the entire game can be played co-op, quite a rarity at the time and really fun. |
