Over the next few months I'm looking into upgrading my PC but I am at a lost where to start, Wondering if any of you brainy poeple can point me in the right direction

Looking to spend around £600.00 and dont need a case monitor etc. I'm guessing motherboard will need to be upgraded along with CPU, ram and GPU, maybe power supply depending on the needs of the items I upgrade. Below is my current setup.

ps thought there was already a thread for something like this but couldn't find it.

Just some random tips:
- For your current CPU, Mainboard and Ram you should still get around 150 GBP on ebay, so maybe you can factor this into your budget.
- GPU prices right now are stupidly expensive because of all the bitcoin mining. So you probably have to buy a cheaper card now and then in a year or so upgrade again when prices hopefully have calmed down, so after adding all the other parts I would just buy whatever fits the budget like a Geforce 1050 Ti, personally I would very much prefer the 1060 but the current list price of anything above the 1050 Ti is just evil beyond all comprehension.
- For Ram you probably will just swap your 8GB DDR3 for 8GB DDR4 2400, sadly not very exciting.
- You most likely can keep your power supply, because the current gen parts need less power than those from a few years ago.
- A SSD with at least 250GB like the Samsung 850 EVO is a must, without it Windows 10 will feel slow. You'll add your current HDD for mass storage.
- CPU you probably want to go with either AMD's Ryzen 5 1600 or Intel's Core i5-8400 depending on your personal preference. I myself am more of an Intel guy.
- Mainboard something like an Asrock Z370 Pro4 for Intel or AB350 Pro4 for AMD.

Example:

- CPU cooler still missing, just get what you like
- Instead of 2x4GB ram you can also buy 1x8GB which gives you the ability to later on buy another 8GB stick for a total of 16GB running in dual channel. Just remember that 1x8GB is a little slower than 2x4GB because of the lack of dual channel.
- The CPU can be exchanged for an i5-8600K if you want to overclock

You can also have a look at http://www.logicalincrements.com/ for some more inspiration but don't start to frown when you see how little they pay in the US for all the stuff. xD

If the GPU prices weren't at twice their normal level I probably would just advise to get an old overclocked i7-3770K, a 500GB SSD and a Geforce 1070 for your current system and call it a day.

Go to PC Settings -> Update & Security -> Activation, it should say "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account"

If it does not say that, then you're most likely signed into your PC with an offline account. So you need to go to PC Settings -> Accounts and create a Microsoft online account with an email and a password. Now your Windows 10 license should be automatically linked to your account.

Next just download a Windows 10 image from Microsoft, install it on your new PC without a key and once that is done you can sign in with your Microsoft account and Windows 10 should be activated again.

When I shoot, I shoot to film
That's what I did, bought one part every paycheck. I used mostly Newegg and amazon. I would look at reviews on newegg and then check to see if prices were cheaper on amazon.

I'm gonna recomend ASUS for your mother board. I love mine and I trust them the most when it comes to boards (everyone has their opinion) Check ou these two boards.

I could know absolutely nothing but, like Sanni said, since mining for cryptocurrency became popular, GPU prices skyrocketed. If you're looking for anything that's at the power of a GTX 1050 TI or higher, it might help to buy one that's been lightly used. That'll probably help you get better iterations of other parts within your budget.

Well Good luck upgrading your PC, I hope it will plan out well in the end to more better PC than it is before. One day you would plan to have RGB fans?

Pay day today so the plan is to buy the mother board or SSD this coming week. Not going to bother RGB fans as the parts will be coming in a plain case under the desk :)

Edit
So I went to look at the motherboard suggested by Sanni, the Asrock one but the dimensions are too big for my case. I dont really want to change the case as it fits nicely in the space I have so I found the one on the link below. Its Gigabyte which I have now but is it comparable to the ones you guys have suggested? Its the same size as my current one so I know it will fit, but if i'm missing out on something that will benifit me then I guess i will need to look at new cases.

Gigabyte Z370P D3
