Could WWF No Mercy USA-1 be the rarest N64 game?; Rarest N64 game that isn't recognized
Topic Started: Feb 27 2018, 01:21 AM (108 Views)
I remember back when I got my No Mercy game on N64 the day it came out about 2 days later all my saves were gone. I found out I had the glitched game bug that erases everything. I called Nintendo and all they could suggest at the time was to return it and try to get a working one. After about 7 returns I just accepted it.
It was about 10 years ago that I learned of the USA-1 carts that were provided from TH-Q that had the glitch fixed. Apparently you had to call them and they would send it out after they received your original one. I looked everywhere for a USA-1 version and never seen on anywhere. It was about 5 years ago that I seen someone selling brand new copies of the USA-1 copies. Somehow he obtained a case of them from TH-Q. He said the case was still sealed when he received it. I bought one off of him for 80 bucks on ebay even though I had my doubts it was a real USA-1 cart.
Well when I received it the game was brand new and on the outside of the box their was no way to tell, I even did a side by side comparison to my original box. I opened it and at the bottom of the label it said USA-1 on it. I have been playing it on and off for years and have still not encountered the save erasing glitch.
I am wondering why this never gets any recognition as to how rare this version of the game is unlike the Turok game that was updated and sent out to people through the company in the same style that the USA-1 no mercy game was

Here is a link to an article someone did about it with images.

I do remember this auction back then. Being able to acquire those copies was extraordinary. I regret not purchasing one for the actual benefit of its correction.
To answer your question, the reason it doesn't hold the kind of importance is because it's a less popular wrestling game.
I really don't the overall community knows of it, so it doesn't carry the provenance that other color variants do in regards to revisions.

Does that help somewhat?
