Cartridge Rattling and Cartridge Reader Questions
Topic Started: Jun 1 2018, 08:35 PM (46 Views)
I bought a brand new N64 game and when I took it out, heard what I believe to be the ROM chip rattling inside of the case. Can this be fixed by opening it and screwing down the ROM chip more?

Another question on the N64 cartridge reader--if the cartridge reader goes bad can you buy a new one and screw it into the motherboard, or do you need to buy a new console?

The rattling most likely comes from a piece of plastic that broke off the cartridge case. The cartridge slot on the N64 is just held in by two screws and friction so it can be replaced easily. However no new replacement cartridge slots are available so you either have to buy a used one someone took out of a broken console or buy a cheap console yourself and take the slot out of it.
