Now onto the major powers…Far in the northwest corner of Vaenice is the land of
Exiona, the technological hub whose inventiveness and industry is matched only by its level of pollution. It is a place where hard work is vital to the success of the people. They tend to carry out their duties during the day, which could range from working in a dark, desolate factory to traversing the busy streets on a bicycle to deliver packages across the city. The greatest minds of of Vaenice came from Exiona and their efforts have made the world a better place indeed. However, there are those who want to escape from this far from advanced utopian society…
In the northeast one spots
Hanshina, Vaenice's oriental winter wonderland. This nation is known for its cool summers, cold springs, colder autumns, and harsh winters. Despite its freezing temperatures, Hanshina is a cultural center like no other. All forms of fine art are practiced in this Far Eastern land. Above all, the Hanshinans are devoted to their emperor, who claims to have been descended from one of the ancient gods itself, and he has exercised much wisdom, made promises of peace, and of course displayed the pride of their culture. But recently, he has shown much interest in the ways of the western societies; the military has undergone a slight westernization; and the clothes the Hanshinans wear are changing from traditional to conventional. What could these changes possibly mean for the Hanshinan people, and will the technological revolution destroy the land's traditional values?
In the southeast lies
Luxaria, with a large desert rich in precious jewels spanning across the northern half of the island, and a lush savanna occupying the south. They are the nation that enjoys the greatest wealth in all of Vaenice, though much of it is divided amongst the smartest merchants and the nobles. However, the abundance of wealth has attracted several unwanted people to the island country. The great deserts are overrun by pirates and brigands, and some areas go entirely unchecked due to the impossibility of monitoring every region. Meanwhile, the citizens in the capital city suffer from overcrowding and are sometimes forced to move out into the smaller towns and villages across the savanna, but not everyone has the money to move. As such, the inner cities are dirty, full of homeless families and the smell of burning coal.
Tritonia is a sight to behold; this fortress in the sea is surrounded by wild tides and perilous mountains. It is home to some of the fiercest warriors the world of Vaenice has seen, who have been trained since they were young children. They live such a militant lifestyle that the rest of the world looks upon these warmongerers with the expectation of direct aggression, but so far nothing major has occurred. An honorable if bloodthirsty people, the Tritonians live like the ancient Greeks.
At the center of it all lies
Arcadia, a melting pot of a nation with neutral diplomatic ties and Vaenice's most extensive and technologically superb train network. Arcadia mixes the best of all of the other powerful nations with few of their downsides. Its location at the center of every major shipping route has brought it considerable wealth, but compared to such economic superpowers as Luxaria and Exiona, it remains inferior.
