Full Name: Akane Namitsu
Alias: Akane doesn't have any nicknames, at least not any that she'd actually answer to. When she was little she was often playfully called "Kay", but she now finds such little quirks kind of ridiculous.

Kingdom: Hanshina
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty-six
Birthday: Aprolla 8
Elemental Affinity: Water
Psionic School: None

Currently

Florins: Not very many, perhaps a few coins here and there. She normally just tries to have enough to get by. She's never been one to really bother with currency.
Items on Hand:
-- A small, leather bound book that has been dubbed her "diary". It is that in a way, as Akane makes it customary to write or "log" the happenings on the ship. However, don't even think of getting your grubby hands on it. Akane normally keeps it hidden on the ship. If not hidden, it's with her at all times.
-- Akane also has a small canteen of water, which she normally says is for mere drink, but most people assume that it's so she has her element with her at all times for the means of her magic. What they believe is true, and when there's no water source around, she will often be found playing with the water that is in the canteen tied to her waist.

Weapons: Being a water elementalist, Akane uses a staff as her medium for her Auria. It's a long staff, measuring at about four feet, and is made out of a silver-like metal. It also has a bit of new technology into it, though, as it can expand to its full length or contract just by twisting the middle of the staff. At its minimum length, which is what some would probably consider "travel size", it's only about the size of a small telescope -- perhaps ten inches. She normally has this staff tucked to her belt or tied to a loop around her pants for easy access. She's a rather advanced water elementalist, so this is her main forte and means of attack or defense.

However, where staff may fail, Akane uses her hands and feet as her weapons. Never being one to really be able to handle a sword or pistol very well, Akane's flexibility allowed her to learn self-defense in another matter. She has a sharp knowledge of the human body and composition from her studies, and can easily point out different pressure points with ease. She uses her knowledge to her advantage, allowing the ability to possibly stun a foe for a short amount of time by hitting a certain pressure point, just long enough to allow her to distance herself to use her elemental skills or to land another blow. While knowledgeable in this form of fighting, though, Akane's hand-to-hand skills are minimal when compared to her elemental talents.

Aspirations: Akane doesn't let many people know of her aspirations, possibly because they are rather personal. While some other members of the crew would probably want riches and other such things, Akane dreams of just having a free life. She wants to one day settle down when she grows old and not have any worries, but she saves that for then.

Current Occupation: Akane is one of the few female members of the Shirokami pirate crew aboard the Houkoukaze. She's not ashamed of it either.

Home: The Houkoukaze airship is what she calls home, as she doesn't have a home on land at all.

Looks

Appearance:
{child.akane}
{adult.akane}
((do not own either pictures. shall draw soon.))

Upon first glance, Akane appears to be nothing more than a healthy, attractive young woman. She stands at only 5''4, which is actually taller for a woman of Hanshinan heritage, but also shorter than most women of other countries. However, she does not dwell on her height. Her face is heart-shaped, and her chin comes to a curved point. She has a long, sloped nose that comes to a rounded, button end. Her lips are shapely and full, but normally seem to be in a neutral expression, showing neither joy, sorrow, or annoyance unless forced to do so. While her complexion is near perfect, despite a little burn once and awhile do to her outdoor activity, the part of Akane's visage that seems to gain the most attention are her eyes. Shaped like a pair of almonds, the sapphire color of her iris are attention-grabbing and sharp. Her long eyelashes also add to their somewhat dramatic air. However, Akane's hair often likes to get in the way of them.

Speaking of her hair, it is Akane's pride and joy, despite it's often annoying placement in her face. Like most Hanshinan women, Akane's hair is like silken ebony, falling down her back all the way to her mid-thigh. Fortunately enough, her hair is not thick enough to weigh her head down due to its extreme length. Due to its length, though, it can often get in the way of things, and she has been known to tie it back with a ribbon -- knotting it instead of tying it into a bow, of course, as such girlish appearances are not Akane's cup of tea.

However, despite Akane's distaste for "girlish" appearances, she can not hide her obvious womanly figure. While some would go to the point of calling her curvaceous, Akane has a slight hourglass shape, a generous bust, and little fat to her. Due to her time living out on the streets, Akane did not eat very much, and she spent most of her time honing her flexibility and agility in order to steal food to eat. As such, Akane has a good deal of lean muscle to her, though it is not obvious from just looking at her now. Instead, she has an overall lean, yet strong appearance to her.

Clothing: While Akane owns the traditional Hanshinan garb of long robes of many colors, decorated with flowery embroidery, it is very seldom you'll ever see her wear it. Instead, she saves such heavy clothing for more special occasions. Akane prefers lightweight clothing that normally consists of more western-inspired designs. However, they are filled with Hashinan influences, as noted by some of the embroidery or flowy sleeves that accompany some of her everyday attire. You will probably not see Akane in much girlish clothes, however, such as dresses or skirts. In order to move around quickly and efficiently, she prefers shorts or pants. She also has a liking for the lightweight Hanshinan sandals, which is what you'll normally find on her feet. Her favorite colors are the different shades of blue, white, dark green, and the occasional gray.

Mentality

Personality:

Akane can be rather complicated, for what most people meet is merely a mask to cover her true emotions. Around those she barely knows, she seems rather harsh and to-the-point, having a "no nonsense" air about her with everything she does. She is especially serious when it comes to her elemental training or reading, and has a vast amount of independence. While normally quiet, she says things only when she feels is necessary, but this doesn't mean what she says is per say polite. Her sentences are simplistic, choppy, and almost sharp. She will easily tell you how she feels about certain, even if such things probably shouldn't be said.

She disallows anyone she really doesn't know to really try and get into her comfort zone. She becomes rather easily annoyed by those she barely knows, and she can often become angry within moments. Her anger, however provoked, is rather frightening, as Akane is not opposed to violent outbursts. However, the majority of the time she fakes such anger to scare people away or to get a small bit of entertainment from watching people's expressions. While quiet and somewhat serious from afar, Akane does have a sense of humor, though whether or not she'll show it truly depends on the person she is with.

Akane has a tendency to try and hide her true feelings from people, muttering things she actually feels, and getting easily embarrassed if she shows the slightest sign of weakness. She can seem over-protective, even older-sisterly, but Akane will shove off such things as coincidences or nothing instead of opening up her shell. In fact, that's how she takes most things. Attempting to act humble or tough, Akane acts as if any compliments, praise, or even insults will bounce off of her. However, in fact, Akane takes comments very seriously, though she continues to tell herself what people think means nothing. However, it is what people think of her that causes her to place up this "tough girl" mask.

In reality, Akane is a sweetheart, though she hardly ever shows this side to anyone except for those she is extremely close to. Instead of a smirk or frown, people will receive a full blown smile, even a full-hearted laugh. She is also more prone to show her true emotions instead of a mask, and reveals the fact that she can be easily hurt beneath her normally emotionless expression. She is open about the fact that she is extremely caring, even though she is prone to bossiness, instead of hiding such things under her breath. Akane will even be more prone to doing things that she would otherwise consider "foolish" or "idiotic." She is, overall, a more outgoing and open person beneath her somewhat stony first impression.

The reason Akane places a masked personality over her own, though, is due to how she was treated as a child. While living on the streets when young, Akane was often taken advantage of and treated terribly. She was easily hurt, and she would often be teased for various things. She felt like a failure, and felt that the only way to be respected was to act as if she could handle things on her own. Ever since, Akane has been one to appear like a jagged piece of ice, sharp yet beautiful, and when melted down to nothing, one can see that it is only water.

Likes: Akane finds herself rather infatuated with her position as a pirate, as she loves having freedom and being out in the open. She also has a rather great collection of books, mainly about the human body, the flow of Auria, and just elementalism in general. Akane enjoys expanding her knowledge on her areas of expertise, especially when she's able to memorize bits of information about it. Akane is also a great practicioner of meditation, as she finds that it clears her mind completely and allows her to concentrate and relax. She is also rather interested in different cultures, though she barely allows most people to relish in that fact.

Dislikes: Akane often dislikes people who are rather full of themselves, and, ironically enough, greedy. This would seem rather odd for a pirate to dislike greed, but it isn't money that Akane is in for. She prefers just the mere freedom and ability to do as she pleases. She also despises people looking down at her for the mere fact that she is female. If this ever happens, normally her competitive spirit is sparked, and she will not rest well until she proves them wrong. Akane is not a "girly-girl" and despises wearing dresses or skirts, or really dressing up for that matter, unless it's completely necessary.

Talents: Akane was gifted at birth with an amazing memory. Just by looking at different things, she is able to memorize them. She is also a rather exceptional water elementalist -- very exceptional in fact. Akane has the ability to manipulate her element however she pleases for the most part, even turning it into ice if need be, yet she has yet to really master it, and it still takes a considerable amount of her energy if she works to hard. Her studying skills have also proved useful when it comes to knowing about the human anatomy, though she mainly knows such things like pressure points in order to use them when in dire need for attack or defense....or just for threat. She is also very agile and flexible.

Inabilities: While Akane is rather gifted with her memory, elemental ability, and knowledge of pressure points in the human body, it seems that everything else is probably her downfall. The woman can't cook, at least not anything worth risking your life to eat. She can barely clean, as most of her things seem a little unorganized. She's not always the most proper or prim of women as well, and she can't sew to save her life. Overall, when it comes to things that most women of her day and age should know to do, Akane just can't.

Fears: Akane tells most that she's rather fearless, but that, of course, isn't the case. She is rather claustrophobic, and can't stand small, tight spaces. She is also rather petrified of crowds, probably because of her inability to take small, tight spaces, and can often freeze up in the middle of one. She also has a rather deep fear of losing the freedom she's established for herself.

Internal Affairs

Family: Akane doesn't know her real family, as she was an orphan for the majority of her life and lived on the streets. She was adopted by an elderly Arcadian man who traveled to Jishin in order to study. Her adoptive father died when she turned sixteen. Akane barely speaks of him or her past. She has chosen to forget his name.

History: Akane was put into an orphanage as a baby, left in a simple Hanshinan-style basket with a note that said her first name "Akane" scrawled across it. She has never once really thought about her real parents, and she assumes that her last name was given to her by the matron. Unlike the other children, Akane never really wished to learn about her real parents or seek them out. Even at a young age, she was more introvertive and quiet, normally spending her time reading the few books that the matron had until she had commited them to memory. The matron was an old, stuffy, and very superstitious woman of whom believed Akane was possessed by an evil spirit when she noticed how different she was from the other children. When Akane began to recite the books from memory to the children of the orphanage, the matron screamed in fear and immediately shoved her out the door, not wishing for her strange ways or evil spirit to possess the children.

At the age of nine, Akane was left out on the streets with nothing but the issued clothes from the orphanage to provide her warmth. It was at this age that Akane first went into her life of crime as some would consider it. She stole food for herself, and often pickpocketed a few coins in order to buy blankets or extra clothes. She was able to hone her skills for agility and flexibility during the months that she survived on her own, until one day she was caught stealing a piece of bread redhanded by a man not of Hanshinan heritage. This man was from Arcadia, a scholar of course, who was already leaning toward his old age. He had come to Jishin to study about elementalism in which Hanshina was renowned for. Instead
of turning her in, the kindly older man took Akane in.

He was rather facinated with Akane's ability of memorization, and he told her that it was a gift, not a curse or evil spirit. He allowed Akane to look at and read as many books as she wanted, and through watching the man's study Akane found herself infatuated with elementalism. At the young age of eleven, to the man's great shock, she had already went through the mental maze and had found her element -- which, oddly enough, ended up to be water. The man told her that it was a great element -- flexible and powerful, much like herself. Believing that she could go far with her talent, especially in the military, and knowing that he would not live to support her forever, the Arcadian man made Akane a staff unlike she had ever seen. Appearantly the Arcadian had known a man familiar with Exonian technology, and had made Akane the staff that she still carries today.

For the next few years, Akane would practice what the man would study. She would study along with him, learning about Auria and elementalism, along with the human body and how they were related. Yet, only a mere day or so after Akane had turned sixteen, the Arcadian man died of his old age. Upon the reading of his will she discovered that he had children and a wife back in Arcadia, and he had left nothing for her to carry on with besides her staff. Angered as well as heartbroken, Akane went back into the streets of Jishin and returned to her theivery, using her knowledge now to get by anyone who ever got in her way. She was mainly fueled by anger and distrust of anyone around her, and she got to the point where she'd even steal things for sport.

Akane continued this way of life for years until hearing about the pirate ship called the Houkoukaze. Wishing to get out of Jishin and into the world to make a way for herself, Akane immediately decided to join the crew if she could help it. She knew that she was going to be outnumbered by men, but she truly didn't care. All she wanted was a way out of the crowded tight spaces of Jishin she'd grown to despise and into the open air. She now resides as a pirate on the ship's crew today.
