The ocean waves were calm. A lone girl sat on the deck of a passenger ship that was headed towards Arcadia, hoping that by repeating the fact that there was nothing going on at the moment, that somebody up there would make something happen just to prove her wrong. Ah, how am I supposed to find one person in this wide and vast world? Shuri sighed to herself as she leaned on the railings of the ship and looked around. The ship that was currently sailing above the Areshina Sea was strangely quiet and empty, but that was a plus for the fencer, seeing as there would be less of a chance of there being anyone who recognized her face from the wanted posters back at the palace. "Something 'bout a weird sea creature being spotted around the area recently?" she asked to nobody in particular. Shuri wondered if boarding the first ship she saw that was headed overseas was the smartest thing to do; but then again, she had no leads whatsoever and supposed that anything would do if she was desperate. A small tune escaped from her lips as she decided to keep herself amused by singing a Hanshinian lullaby - something that always reminded her of her family back home as her mother had always sung that song to her as a child. I wonder if Brother's ever heard of this song before, she wondered idly after the melody was complete. |

'Wilde!! Don't run away from me!" A child's voice wailed across the ship traveling across the ocean. A small Hanshinan huskie ran through the deck and following it was another feline creature who had the ability to speak. Upon closer inspection, the lion was actually a little girl not even in her teens. She was wearing her lion costume, something that she had not grown out of just yet, which would also explain why others mistook her for a two-legged walking cat from afar. When she reached the other side of the boat, she had finally caught the small dog, picked it up, and hugged it close to her chest. Then she heard a foreign melody that seemed to have attracted her ears to its source. A young Hanshinan lady evident by her black hair and dress style, sat in the middle of the deck, singing the lullaby to no one in particular. The little lioness set her traveling companion on the deck and strictly told it not to run away from her again. She moved closer to the Hanshinan woman, listening as she went. The girl felt enlightened while listening; she felt lifted although she had never heard of the song before nor did she quite understand the song's purpose. The little girl glanced at the singer's face and she did not seem all that happy however. If anything, the little girl could recognize that the woman singing across from her was just like the little girl; they were both lonely in some aspect although for entirely different reasons. When the song ended, the little girl expected to hear a bit more but the Hanshinan woman would not continue. "You...have a nice voice, miss," the little girl finally spoke up, standing a few meters away from the Hanshinan, her hands hidden behind her back. The girl didn't quite know what else to say and figured that a genuine compliment was enough to start. |

Shuri spun around in surprise when she heard a voice behind her. She had thought that apart from the captain, she was the only person who was actually riding the ship, based on the number of people she had seen on the craft when she boarded. That being zero. What's more, the voice was unusually soft and high. A child? Indeed the one who had spoken to her was a little child who couldn't have been older than twelve. Shuri stared quizzically for a moment as she noticed her manner of dress. It was... interesting to say the least. Not many people she knew dressed in lion costumes after all. Shuri didn't even bother putting up her normal suspicious and careful front. It was a child, for pete's sake. There was nothing to be worried about. Besides, she's absolutely adorable! A smile spread across her face as she sat down on the deck floor to meet the person's eyes. "Thank you," she began, showing her gratitude to the compliment she received earlier. Shuri stretch a hand out to pat the child on her head before speaking again. "What brings you here? I don't think I'm one to speak, but isn't it a little dangerous for a young girl to be traveling by herself?" Or perhaps her parents are just in the hull of the ship, she mentally slapped herself after realizing that. |

The little girl giggled when she noticed the Hanshinan woman’s perplexed expression when looking upon a miniature lion standing right in front of her. The surprised facade turned into one of absolute joy when the woman widely smiled and approached the young child. The lion child was then caught by surprised when the lady reached forward to pat her on the head once, displaying her capacity for friendliness despite her troubled look from before. She giggled once again, beamed at her new sister, and sat down on the deck as well. Yes, this particular little girl thought anyone older than her who appeared to be a young adult was her sister. How many girls had she claimed to be a part of the little lion’s ring of sister already? Perhaps too many for the little girl to remember. “Now why does everyone keep on saying that?” the young girl threw out a question though it was for no one to answer. “I’ve had someone tell me that wherever I go, big sis! And now you’ve joined the club along with them heh…Oh well, I guess it can’t be helped…A lot of people seem to underestimate me. Even you, big sis!” The little girl let out a childish laughter, throwing herself backwards and falling comfortably on her back, allowing the lion hood to remove itself from her head and then used as some sort of cushion. This revealed her glistening blond hair underneath the juvenile lion hoodie. “But don’t worry about it…I’ve been fine on my own for awhile…I’ve got Wilde! He takes really good care of me…And I take good care of him too! And also…I’ve met some really really nice people. You seem like one of them, big sis! Trust me…I’ve known a lot of nice people in my lifetime hehe…and you’re definitely one of them!” The young girl then jolted up from her spot, sitting up straight now and facing the Hanshinan woman. Her speech was cut off so abruptly, the woman must have been caught by surprise as well. The little girl was known to be a little random at times. “I forgot something!” she squeaked, “Someone told me awhile ago that it was best to introduce yourself in the very beginning! And I forgot… Hopefully he’s not here to see me now, heh. I’m Emma by the way! And who are you?” |

Finally, her deliveries were getting back to normal. Ever since she met Shuu, Yuki had been on airships for some reason... but with the last delivery to Housuke and this particular delivery to Arcadia (for once not a weapon but a beautifully forged helmet), she was going back to her ocean-going deliveries. It's been awhile since I've done a delivery alone, too. Yuki thought, leaning against the guardrail of the deck. Shuu and Zal and Jalee accompanied me with past ones... oh, and that Lena Orthallo counts too I guess. Out of the corner of her eye, Yuki spotted a small child wearing a lion costume chasing an even smaller Hanshinan husky around. Never mind the strangeness of the lion costume, this situation seemed rather humorous on its own; a lion chasing a husky. The cat chasing the dog. She also heard a woman singing... and after a few moments, she turned around to see that the singing woman and the lion-child were conversing. No, wait. That was Shuu talking to the lion! Yuki edged closer to the pair, trying to get a closer look. No wait, now that she was closer, Yuki could see that "Shuu" was indeed a woman. And "Shuu" had two arms. Yuki rubbed her eyes. She couldn't believe that two unrelated people could look so alike. If she looks so much like him, maybe her personality's like him too? I gotta find out. It was like a bonus mission for Yuki. Finding out meant bonus points... and sating her curiosity. And her boredom, probably. "Hey, you! What's your name?" Yuki said suddenly to the Shuu lookalike. She turned to the lionchild with a nod when she introduced herself. "I know you now. Nice to meet ya, Emma. Now you. What's your name? What is it? If it's that name then wow that'll be weird!" she stared at the Shuu clone intently. Edited by jes, Aug 25 2009, 10:19 PM.

Shuri was startled when another voice called out to the pair. That was certainly strange. First the ship was practically a ghost ship, and now people were starting to appear one after another. Strange indeed. At first she thought that the newcomer was Emma's guardian or something, but the woman mentioned that she had just came to know the child. She was in a dilemma, too. Since Emma had asked her for her name not a few seconds ago, Shuri felt obliged to give her real one so as to not seem like a suspicious person or anything, but the situation changed now that someone else was there. What's more, the newcomer had asked for her name without even giving her own. What's her goal? Shuri stood up and dusted her coat with a hand. She would give her name, but just her first name. "My name is Shuri. Is there anything I can help you with?" she asked slowly, at the same time, looking at the other woman suspiciously. She looked Hanshinan, but did not seem like she belonged to the military. It was unlikely that the Hanshinan woman was after her or something, but there was always a chance and it never hurt to be careful. She took a look at the stranger's attire while waiting for a reply. She was clad in a coat much like herself, but strangely wore short trousers despite the cold Hanshinan weather. Yuki did seem like the type that was capable of fighting, but from what Shuri could see, she was unarmed for the moment. Edited by Rylond, Aug 25 2009, 10:39 PM.

Yuki's eyes widened and she broke into laughter. "SHURI?! You must be Shuu2!" After a few seconds, she managed to calm down enough to remember to introduce herself. "Oh, almost forgot. I'm Yuki." She looked at the pup in Liongirl's hands. "Cute dog there, Ems. Looks like one I used to have. It died though. When I was 4, I think. It got stepped on by a horse." A moment later, the ship shook with such turbulence, that Yuki was knocked against the guardrail, arms flailing in front of her. A moment of extreme deja vu. She looked wildly to the side and saw several other passengers tripping, falling, and rolling around the deck along with other things like barrels of wine and water. "Something similar happened when I met Shuu!" Yuki exclaimed, speaking her thoughts unintentionally. "Shuu2! You must be some sorta sign! Along with Ems. Ems definitely looks like a sign for d---" she was interrupted in her speech by another tremor, and was rammed against the guardrail, letting out a grunt of pain. It was then she paid attention to her surroundings; A large something was emerging from the ocean. Yuki opened her mouth in horror. "What.. what in hell is that thing?!" her voice cracked in disbelief at what she was seeing before her. A large sea monster with tentacles and a large body with other limbs. Some sort of grotesque leviathan, barnacles growing passively on its lumpy, warty skin. Scales lined a part of its body like the toughest chainmail, and when it opened its mouth to let out a deathly cry, Yuki could see through her dilated pupils rows and rows of razor sharp teeth. |

A short moment of silence passed after Shuri introduced herself to the strange woman, before said person broke out in laughter. Shuri could only tilt her head sideways in bewilderment and wait for the Hanshinan woman to finish her spasm so she could learn what the joke was about. Two? So there's another 'Shuu'? the fencer thought for awhile, before the pieces started to fall into place. Yuki did mention that she was expecting some form of a name from her, and she seemed satisfied with her answer. The only reason that she would guess her name would be that she'd seen her before, or perhaps someone that looked just like her. She was about to question Yuki about it when the ship suddenly shook violently. Questions had to be asked later. The more important thing at that time would be to protect her newfound 'sister', which she did by catching the child as she was flung to the side, although that resulted in the fencer hitting the railings instead due to her lack of strength. Satisfied with her catch, Shuri let Emma go when the ship regained its stability. Now was the time for her to confirm her suspicions. The sea creature that had just emerged from the ocean went by more or less unnoticed by Shuri as she turned to face Yuki and grabbed her by the shoulders. "You've seen my brother, Shun? Shun Rai?" A wave of excitement as well as nervousness surged through Shuri's body, causing a large spike in her Auria and a small gale to blow about the ship's deck. |

Emma was taken by surprise when a newcomer approached her. She appeared to be a Hanshinan woman and from what Emma could tell, she was maybe no older than Emma’s new big sister. Others may have found the intrusion rude, but only Emma would joyfully embrace the newcomer with delight and intrigue. When the Hanshinan woman complimented Emma’s companion, Wilde, she also inputted a very nasty image of an animal squashed by a monstrous horse into Emma’s head. Emma let out a small squeal and hugged Wilde even tighter, attempting to protect the small animal from any danger that might come and try to harm it. Of course there were no monstrous horses that were currently present on the ship and had Emma squeezed Wilde any tighter, the small huskie’s head would have popped right off! Inattentive to the others’ conversation, Emma allowed Wilde to roam free again until suddenly the vessel violently shook which made Emma fall onto her bottom. What was that?! she tried to pick herself up before someone’s arms flung open and wrapped themselves around Emma’s body. She peered up to see Shuri protecting her and rejoiced to be safely under her new big sister’s guard. But Emma was unaware of the looming danger at hand. Now lurking in the waters around them, a behemoth of a sea creature emerged from the depths of the ocean only to reveal itself. Emma began to tremble, attempting to break free from Shuri’s hold only to be let go willingly a short moment after. Apparently Shuri was much too occupied with the knowledge of her brother to actually worry about the new threat, but Emma didn’t care. She needed to hide. And quick. “M-M-Monsters!” she squealed, the tears were already beginning to stroll down her face. Wilde! Where is he?! She called for the huskie and almost instantaneously, her small traveling companion arrived by her side, barking a few times in order to tell Emma of the monster’s presence. I know, I know Wilde! she picked the dog up and held it close to her. Emma’s heart sunk as she sat there in the middle of the ship’s deck, knowing full well the danger she could bring to herself at any given time. No no no no no…I want to be in control! I want to be in control! she kept repeating to herself, shutting her eyes and burying her face in her own crossed arms. Go away, go away, go away! |
