'Oh... Oh, this is wonderful... I can feel the knowledge already...' Millicent stood looking up at the Novel City Library with a dumb look of serene bliss on her face. It was her summer holiday and she'd been saving up all year to come here. Bar work, shop work, standing in the street half-dressed handing out flyers... It had all been worth it. She'd written a list of rare books she intended to read while she was here, but would she have enough time? Not if I just stand here all day grinning like an idiot, I won't. ACHOO! 'Ugh, hayfever...' She shook herself, blinked in the daylight and scurried into the huge building. Walking amongst the huge shelves, it was all she could do not to just grab the nearest book and stuff it into her bag. If she had more time... But no. She couldn't be here long. Just read the rarest books, there'll be time for the others back in Rechvald. 'Ah! Here it is. The original manuscript of On Elements should be around here somewhere... ACHOO!' She turned deep crimson as a man at the far end of the shelving unit looked at her in disgust. 'I'm terribly sorry, I have these allergies... ACHOO! Sorry again...' She pressed her tongue to the top of her mouth in an effort to stop the sneezes and searched the shelves for her prize. Where is it, where is it, I don't have all day... She could feel another sneeze building. No no no I can't hold it in oh no... ACHOOOOOO! |

Sade Nuriel was actually back home in Arcadia for once, it periodic for him to take small vacations when he didn't have papers requesting his abilities as a profound healer. But here was the boy walking down the Arcadian streets, a pleasant smile on his face as he walked along side one of his best friends. Lenna Barnesworth was a very interesting girl to him, she was full of mystery yet at the same a complete klutz when it came to balance. Both of them were chatting about different food stuffs, since Lenna herself loved to converse about the different cuisines that each nation had to offer. Emerald orbs blinked curiously at the shorter boy, who stopped momentarily along the road. A small cloud of dust blew through the streets, making the healer sneeze loudly before realization struck him. In the corner of his eyes, he saw his brunette friend trying to plug her nose, her cheeks turning red as she attempted to stop herself from sneezing. As every second passed, his eyes grew wider in fear for what her sneezes were capable of. Lenna tried her very best, but unfortunately the sneeze just HAD to come out! Sade stepped back as far as he could, ready to flee for his safety as Lenna's head faced the sky. As her emerald orbs bore into the sun, she unplugged her nose and let out a loud sneeze. Instantly a large portal engulfed her, and the teleportress disappeared into nothingness. Uhh... oh well, she'll be alright. ---- "AAAAACHOOOO!" Lenna let out the huge sneeze, and instantly felt relief as she rubbed her poor nose. On the other hand this sneeze caused quite a commotion! It was alarming to see a teenager warp out of a portal, and in the library no less! Nervously, the girl bit her lower lip, and forced a smile as she rubbed the side of her head in embarrassment. Her eyes widened in shock, when she heard another person sneezing quite loudly as she could. Heck, the sneeze may have even rivaled hers in strength! For a moment Lenna thought it was her fault again, and she checked to see with one eye open if she teleported herself, or any unfortunate bystander to another area. Nothing happened, she was safe! Gripping her unusual staff, the klutz ventured forth in the library, trying to locate the sound of the sneeze. Her head shifted from many directions, trying to see a if anyone would -- and there it was again! The same voice sneezed again, and the brunette came to a deduction that it was a girl who was sneezing. Following the source of the sound, she found a disgusted man tapping his feet against the ground with a book in hand, with another girl with blond hair who was recovering from her sneeze. Nodding, she approached the girl, having an sympathetic feeling on what it was like to sneeze out loud. "Um... do you need some tissue?" She questioned in a light tone, smiling politely as her two hands gripped the tall staff in front of her. |

Oh gods, I didn't snot, did I? I'd better not have snotted on the books... Ohgodsohgods... Millicent opened her right eye cautiously, squinting through streaming tears. Oh, it's all right. A friendly female voice came to her ears. She straightened up and opened her other eye to see... A brown, white and blue blob? Focus, focus... It's a girl! Of course it's a girl, you moron. Wait, she said something, what did she say? She rewound in her mind - sneeze, thinking about snot, girl asking about... Tissues! 'Ub, I would like a tizzue if you habe ode, thak you.' More to herself than to the other girl she added, 'Ugh, dow by eyes are going too. I do hobe dis isn't Torrington's Disease...' She tried to smile with hayfever tears and... Not tears... Running down her face. 'I dode subbose you know where they keep On Elebents?' |

The stranger was obviously in tears, and it caused her to wonder how sneezing could cause someone to tear up that much. Lenna didn't know what to do, and simply stood there with a concerned look on her face as green eyes darted across as she looked for help. The teleportress was caught by surprise, but could only scoot closer as she tried to word out the girl's muffled words. Realizing what she needed, the brunette flicked her staff upwards once before a small portal the size of a ball opened up besides her. Reaching into the glowing light, Lenna pulled out a new piece of tissue before handing it over to the blond girl. As she handed the tissue, Lenna had the idea of trying to comfort her for some awkward reason, and gave Millicent a small pat on the shoulders to reassure her. She wasn't sure what this "Torrington's Disease" was, but somehow she doubted that the girl would have it in the first place. She withdrew her hand, retaining her carefree smile as she listened to the girls question. For a moment, the brunette stood there in place, as if she was spacing out. An index finger was held to her chin as she pondered the location of "On Elebents". Unfortunately for the stranger, Lenna interpreted her words as being exactly "On Elebents". "Um... I don't even know what an Elebent is... can you tell me what it is please?" |

Through her tears, Millicent saw... Something... Glowing... She didn't know for certain, but she thought maybe the girl was using magic. Note to self: ask about that. The other girl handed something to her. Millicent took it - yes, a tissue, and a good soft one too - and dabbed at her eyes. She blew her nose noisily, almost daring the disapproving man from before to say something. After a good 30 seconds she was done. She folded up the soggy piece of paper and tucked it into her blazer pocket. She'd probably need it later. 'Ah, that's so much better. Thank you. There's no blood in my sinuses so it probably isn't Torrington's.' She could see the girl properly now - small, dark-haired, a few years younger than she was and holding a staff. A staff! Yes, that had to have been magic! How exciting! Oh, I'll have to ask so many questions! 'Erm, sorry about the funny voice, I meant elements before. Although I suppose it sounded a bit like elephants, and those are interesting too. I... Don't think you work here though. Do you? Because if you do I have a lot of books I'd like to look at... Oh, I'm rambling, I'm sorry, it's just all these books get me so...' Millicent made an excited squeaking noise. |

Elebent... elebent, it was just an interesting word to her. Lenna had never heard of the word before, and now she was highly curious to see what the stranger would say about the word. On the outside, an energetic grin tugged at the corner of her lips, as she tapped her fingers against her staff in anticipation. The brunette gave a chuckle towards the blond as a sign of your welcome, but jumped back in surprise when the blond's expression changed into that of interest. Her eyes followed her stare warily, and found it focused on her weapon in her hands. Lenna gave an idle smile, albeit it was a bit forced when compared to her other ones. Unfortunately, she was met with disappointment when she found out that elebant wasn't a word, causing the rift user to frown momentarily. However at the mention of elephants, her eyes lit up and an innocent smile decorated her face. Lenna always found animals interesting, but elephants were even more amazing because of their sheer size. Unknown to Millicient, Lenna did not register any other words that escaped her lips, her air headed nature only taking note of the one word that came out: elephant! "Ooh, Elephants are cute aren't they? They have those large flappy ears... and that long and stretchy nose! Sometimes I wonder if you could squeeze them, just to see if steam would come out of their trunks!" The teleportress had lost her calm composure, replaced by her more true personality as the bubbly girl clapped her hands in response. Lenna didn't even hear the girl apologizing as she herself began to ramble on about cute animals and other fluffy delights. But suddenly she realized what she was doing, causing her to bow in apology as her face blushed red in embarrassment. "O-oh, I'm sorry, I must have rambled off on animals! But... as for books, I like books too! I mean they have colorful covers sometimes, like those fantasy books! I think my favorite book though is a book called Pandora's Ascensions..." |

No. No, she doesn't work here, does she? Oh well, this could be MUCH more interesting... A real live magic user! Millicent found herself smiling along with the brunette as she chattered happily away. She wasn't used to people talking so freely around her. Most people kept something back... Well, so long as the other girl was this open, it should be interesting. And educational. She grinned so widely inwardly that the smile on her face widened a little too. Millicent nodded along with the other girl's talking, politely waiting for her to finish. 'Oh, you like fantasy? It always sounded like fun but there's so many interesting things to learn I never had time to read any. Maybe I'll pick up this book one day. Oh but did you know that the closest animal to an elephant is a little fluffy ratty thing? Pretty weird, huh?' She just had to get that in there. 'I wouldn't like to squeeze an elephant though... It might get mad and stomp me.' She shuddered at that last thought. And then the question that had been burning on her lips this whole time came bursting out. 'Oh, and I just had to ask... You can use magic? I've always been really interested in how magic works. Could you... Could you maybe explain it? I don't mind if you can't -' - Like hell I don't. - '- but I just always really wanted to know. It's not explained all that well in the textbooks. Um.' She trailed off, scanning the other girl's face for any reaction. Pleasetellmepleasetellmepleasetellme repeated over and over in her mind, a silent mantra. IhavetoknowIhavetoknowIhavetoknow |

OOC: Lol XD, I feel like Lenna is a specimen XD;; Fluffy ratty thing? Lenna was highly confused, wondering how the closest thing was fluffy and ratty when compared to elephant. Curiously, the girl let her go of her staff, the weapon somehow floating in mid air as the brunette waved her hands as she tried to visualize the resemblance mentally. Her mind came up with nothing, the air head simply shrugging it off and forgetting that both of them were even conversing about it. To the man that was still in the same row of shelves, he stared at the emerald eyed girl in shock as her staff simply lay afloat like it was an everyday thing. "Yes... fantasy is so amazing, its like another magical world!" she giggled to herself childishly, contemplating the many fantasy books that she discovered in the huge Arcadian library. But the stranger's questions alarmed her, it wasn't everyday that someone asked her how to used magic. Leaning against the shelf, Lenna couldn't figure out how to exactly explain her abilities to the blond. If Millicent glanced at her face, there would be a myriad of expressions adorning it, ranging from confusion, to contemplation, to irritation. How do I explain this... my "magic" isn't exactly normal per say when compared to others. Not a single thought came into her head, making her give a small sigh before forcing a smile for the stranger. "U-uh, you use magic by um... err.. tap into the... um, the mind energy thingies in your mind then just release it...?" She finished her answer lamely, it was extremely hard for Lenna to explain how magic worked, as for hers it was completely different. Magic was an unconscious thing for her, she could activated it on a whim without needing to concentrate, it was as if it was a simple bodily function for her. Nervously the girl rubbed the side of her head with her index finger, it was obviously clear that Lenna had no coherent idea on how to explain the use of magic to Millicent. "Aaah, I'm sorry, I don't really know how to explain it... it just happens for me when I use it." |

[[OOC: Yeah, Millie's not very subtle, is she? Something she's gotta work on. :P]] Millicent watched Lenna's reaction to her Fun Fact of the Day with confused amusement. What was the girl doing? It was just a throwaway remark, not an exam... Oh. My. Gods. Her staff. Is floating. No doubt about it, this girl was magical, and powerful too. She was so young to have such complete mastery; it took most people a complete lifetime for that kind of effortless control. In her homeland it was rare to even exhibit any power at all! A pang of envy struck Millicent, but she shook it off. After all, she didn't particularly want such power for herself, merely to understand it, and hopefully that understanding would come soon... Or not. She couldn't stop a crestfallen expression creeping onto her face at the girl's reply. It was entirely unsatisfactory! How was she supposed to understand anything from that? 'It just happens.' Then she remembered being young, talking to one of the serious men in suits that checked up on her each month. Every time they came to visit her, they'd always ask the same thing, 'How do you remember all of that?' And she would tell them, 'I don't know, it just happens.' Huh. Millicent sighed, then smiled. 'Ah well, never mind. I guess that's the best you can do so, er, thanks for trying.' She heard footsteps coming up behind her. A tap on her shoulder, she turned around and came face to face with Disapproving Man. 'E-e-excuse me, girls, but if you're going to hold a conversation I think maybe you should do it outside?' He met Millicent's unimpressed gaze. 'She might not work here,' he gestured nervously towards Lenna, trying not to look directly at her, 'but I think you'll find I do. So, um, get out? No offence, ma'am.' He addressed the last part to Lenna, every fibre of his body fighting to cower harder than the others. |

If she was given the ample amount of time to explain, Lenna probably would have been able to cover at least the bare bones of her rift abilities. She felt a little bit guilty when the girl had a somewhat disappointed face, but the brunette could only force a smile to alleviate the build up of awkwardness between both of them. She didn't know what to say in such a situation, grabbing her floating staff before holding it in her hands once again. "Sorry again, its just a bit hard to explain in only words. Maybe that book you're looking for can help?" she nodded, and was about to search the shelves for that particular book before the man near them interrupted their conversation. Lenna gave a potent stare towards the male, eying him warily at his attempts to kick them out. The man backed up slightly, afraid that the brunette would somehow cast a spell on him and cause bodily harm. She didn't do anything however, emerald eyes staring back at the librarian that almost made it look as if she was piercing him with her stare. Biting his lower lip, he felt cold sweats drip down his sideburns, and he stuttered as he spoke. "O-of course, this is a public library.. s-so maybe you two were talking about some books... yes..books," he finished lamely, turning around and scampering off to some other part of the library. She tilted her head in confusion, why did the man just run away all of a sudden? "U-um, was it something I did?" |
