(Sequel to Once Ashore and Yet Unsure. The original post was way longer but i shortened it so you guys wouldn't have to read some essay :study: )

It had been two weeks since the funeral at the Arcadian shores. The Shirokami pirates had finally gotten themselves together and repaired many parts of their ship one week ago, and now they were calmly in the skies. It had been a terrible ordeal, and Jalee could not help but think that it had been terrible luck to find that Fionan temple. Now there was some crazy powerful Fionan on the loose; this was something of deep concern. But now, all the Shirokami was concerned about was the whereabouts of its captain.

The crew had been searching for a week, flying low altitudes and scanning the blue waters of the Odilana ocean. They finally crossed over into the Areshina sea, following the ocean currents. The navigator of the Houkoukaze predicted that if their captain had been drifting, he would have most likely made it near these waters... or at least, this was the only lead they had. There was no way of predicting the direction of the currents on that fateful day, but they could at least follow the currents flowing now.

"I hope the captain found a way to get out of the water," said one of the crewmates. "I don't even want to think about how freezing these waters near Hanshina are!"

Jalee looked glumly at the ocean, which was steadily accumulating ice as they neared the wintry country. She was already tired of searching for this man, and wanted something new. Jalee couldn't remember the last time she had travelled with a group of people for an extended period of time. She was used to traveling where she wanted and whenever she wanted. However, she felt she had an obligation to help these people out, as their medic did heal her. I don't know what use I'll be to them, but I'll help them until they find their captain in any way I can.

As more time passed, the waters got warmer; they were apparently flying away from Hanshina and nearer Luxaria. "I believe that's Axulles Island," said Odaro, looking out at the dot of land in the horizon through a telescope. "A territory of Luxaria... but very unlike Luxaria in that it has a tropical climate."

"Oh. I've never been there before," said Jalee, her eyebrows rising slightly in curiosity. "Well, this is exciting, don't you agree, Zal?" She turned to him. Her placid face didn't show it, but she was getting rather happy about going somewhere she hadn't ever been to. She tugged at Odaro's sleeve.

"Odaro, do you think the captain might have floated over there?" she asked, a small smile beginning to form on her face. The navigator told her that it was possible, but the probability was low.

"I suspect if it's our captain, he'd have found a ship by now... and is heading out to search for us. Or maybe he got sidetracked and is going somewhere else."

Jalee's spirits lowered slightly. She sighed and went back to leaning over the side of the deck and watching the ocean waves. Her head rose slightly and she saw an approaching airship, much smaller than the Houkoukaze, and much quieter. It seemed to be floating in the sky silently, moving toward the Houkoukaze cautiously. She observed that it was very well equipped with weapons, and at the deck, a large man stood there with Exionan clothing and a rather large cannon-like weapon strapped to his back.

"I think I spy a bounty hunter," she said to nobody in particular.

It's been too long; it hasn't been long enough. The mental battle continued to rage onward in her head as she stood in front of the door. Akane's fingertips barely glanced against the metal of the knob before jerking back as if the mere touch of the smooth metal had harmed her. But there could be something in his cabin to help explain some questions, a part of her argued. The other part of her urged that there was nothing to explain other than the fact that he was possibly floating in the ocean. Besides, it continued, that would be an invasion of privacy that you have no right to make. But there could be something, the other part of her whined.

Akane's self-conflict ended abruptly as a member of the crew whizzed by her, apparently saying something about them finally getting out of the chilly waters near Hanshina. She mentally was thankful, not being necessarily fond of the idea of the captain freezing to death. She glanced back at the doorknob for a moment, it's metal gleam almost taunting her triumphantly as the woman pulled herself away. 'I can worry about that later. We're in new territory now...there can be some hope,' she told herself, making her way towards the deck.

The warm air of the Luxarian oceans met her face as she went outside, only verifying what the crew member had mentioned. Her eyes fell over towards Odaro, the ship's navigator. Akane was, not necessarily to her liking, more or less the leader in this main operation of finding the captain. The reason she was not the biggest fan of this responsibility was simple yet complicated. First of all, she did not wish to put herself in the position of a "makeshift captain", as she was not fond of constantly answering stupid questions or being any crew member's nanny. Second of all, it had seemed that the crew had become somewhat suspicious of Akane's strong attachment to the captain, which she of course dismissed as loyalty (and also added that they, as the crew, should be just as concerned about the captain's safety as she, just to throw in a little guilt trip) and either glared or barked at anyone who questioned otherwise. If she was in a less than jovial mood (which was actually difficult to spot) sometimes a little violent punishment could ensue, but no broken bones or blood to be drawn....at least on purpose.

Akane leaned against the railings as she eyed the two strangers, which she had learned were named Jalee and Zalryas. She was silently impressed that the two had decided to actually stick around on their little hunt, as the whole ordeal really had nothing to do with them. In fact, to Akane, they were considered nothing but innocent bystanders unwillingly dragged into this heap of a mess. This gained her respect, though Akane never showed it completely. In fact, she hardly said a word to anybody of recent unless with Odaro to figure out their next course.

She listened to the conversation, only paying the most attention to the more important facts, such as where they were going and the possibility of the captain floating his way in this direction. Surely after over two weeks, the captain would have made landfall or found somebody. She doubted that they'd find him in the ocean alive, but any sign of him would be enough to jolt their search in the correct direction. Wait. Bounty hunter? Akane's attention was caught like a fish on a hook as her attention was drawn to the approaching airship. 'Oh, great....not this moron,' she mentally moaned.

She quickly made her way to where Jalee was, crossing her arms as she glared strongly ahead. "Bounty hunter? Don't give him such credit," she scoffed. "The man considers us 'rival' pirates with his crew. Pathetic excuse for a captain...uses fancy weaponry and his size to gain respect rather than actual leadership skills."

Akane remembered meeting the man not too long after joining the Shirokami. She was still getting used to life on the ship when he had come, bellowing about like an overstuffed chimney, going on and on about his greatness and challenging the crew against his own. Apparently the man had decent enough observation skills to see Akane's muttering of indecencies toward him and had made quite a show of it. Oh, look at the dirty little street girl who thinks she's such a great pirate, he'd taunt, along with some other words that he flaunted about to the then silent Akane whom merely soaked them in before she snapped. Perhaps it was at that moment that she had rather impressed or terrified the majority of her own crew, proving herself as one not to be messed with. To put it simply, the two did not have a great past, and as far as she knew, the man was terrified of her to this day.

"He's probably only here to cause trouble," she said simply. "But I'll handle him if need be."

He was in the clear.

There were no eyes on him this time. No watchful hawks protecting their offspring, no opposing forces to stop him, no one to even witness that he did the deed. It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and there was no way Zalryas was letting this pass by unnoticed.

The Shirokami crew was surprisingly lax on this fine morning when it came to the guarding of their food stock. Perhaps they had thought there was no reason why anyone would plunder it, or maybe they were all just busy with something else. Either way, this opportunity allowed Zalryas' slight kleptomaniac tendencies to emerge, as the green-eyed psion made his way softly across the wooden planks that made up the hull of the storage room.

Successfully prying open one of the ship's crates, a wide grin spread over his face as Zalryas grabbed multiple slabs of preserved meat and dumped them into a specially-prepared bag before proceeding with his perilous journey back to the quarters that the pirates had kindly let him stay in. It was then that he wondered who would even bother persecuting him for his crime should he be caught. The only people from the surprisingly kind and gentle crew who seemed likely to do anything about it would be the retarded head chef of the ship, and the scary water elementalist which Zalryas spoke about a grand total of once to.

He shuddered slightly; that woman was frightening.

---
Rithys was in a sour mood. Several factors contributed to it; two of them being the injury which he had received a few weeks back, along with the fact that they were doing absolutely nothing that was getting him any closer to finding anything out about the crystals.

After the first week, Rithys briefly contemplated ditching the crew to go searching on his own, but decided that his absolute first priority was to forward the kick which he had received onto the captain should they find him, as it was thanks to him that Rithys had to fight the obnoxious red-haired bounty hunter in the first place.

It was then the rest of the crew and temporary crew on board the deck started pointing to something along the horizon, and the silver-haired psion's eyes traveled from the floating craft to the flag that was hung atop its mast.

This idiot again? groaned Rithys as he rolled his eyes in a dramatic fashion. Well, if he had to arrive, he picked the perfect time. I need to vent spleen on somebody.

"I AM BERTIE BAGLIONE!!" the man on the other ship bellowed with pride. "YOU KNOW ME AS YOUR WORST RIVAL, YOU SHIROKAMI PIRATES!" He promptly began stomping around in a sort of dance, hoping to intimidate the shirokami, but only managing to make himself look stupid.

The ship steadily got closer and Jalee straightened from her leaning position over the side of the deck. This man seems to be a danger to himself more than to us. Jalee mused as she watched the man. Bertie seemed to have tripped in his own little "stomping dance of triumph". He stood up immediately, slightly red with embarrassment, and gave a fierce glare toward the ship. "We'll commence the attack, men!"

A roar of approval came from a crowd of pirates that suddenly gathered around Bertie. Their crew was significantly smaller than the Shirokami's. Jalee wondered if their skill made up for their lack of crew members. The airships finally were close enough that a wide wooden plank could be placed as a bridge for the pirates to board.

"WHERE IS MAKO SARIZUKO?" Bertie roared. Jalee tilted her head. This man obviously did not know their situation. He had asked the wrong question... and in front of Akane, no less.

"Mako Sarizuko," she decided to speak up for the safety of this man. "is currently unavailable. If you have business with him, you will have to contact the Shirokami at a later time." Jalee stared at him with an expression she hoped would convey the message that he had to leave.

"He's hiding somewhere!" Bertie shouted. Jalee sighed. Talking to this man was like talking to a concrete wall. The pirate looked around and spotted Akane, looking quite irritated. "...AHH!!" he suddenly shouted.

Bertie flinched and jumped back. "M-Miss Akane!" he seemed extremely troubled and afraid.

Akane sighed at the man whom proclaimed his name boldly to anyone who didn't already know of the idiot pirate captain. If anything, this was merely a distraction from their current cause and an even sharper thorn in her side. She didn't believe that the man would even slightly consider helping them, considering they were "rivals" and all. She watched him in a peeved fashion as he boomed and stumbled about. Well, if that didn't prove of his obvious obnoxious fashion and idiocy, she didn't know what would.

When he asked for the captain, well....that one definitely pushed a couple buttons. Akane glared at him while Jalee spoke up about their situation. Why did she have to deal with this man again? It didn't seem long before Bertie saw her, which immediately changed the entire mood of the situation from threatening to fear. Akane herself wasn't one to try to make people afraid of her, but after what she had put this man through during their last little "meeting", anyone would've shuddered. However, his reaction caused Akane to force herself to hold in a chuckle from his rather childish behavior.

"Hello, Baglione," she said bluntly, her eyes still piercing at him though the edges of her mouth twitched with a smile as she repressed her laughter. However, what she said afterward was serious and straightforward, as she would be with anyone who asked about the situation of their captain's absence. "What she says is true. Our captain isn't hiding, he's just currently on other business matters."

Her hand slid to her staff, which was currently in its more portable state strapped on her leg and pulled it out, twirling it almost tauntingly with her fingers. If there was any man whom she didn't mind terrifying at this moment, it was him. A fight would merely be a distraction, a problem, useless. There had been enough bloodshed lately, and Akane didn't want to risk another week or two dealing with repairs from cannon fire or any other mishap that could occur.

"You should tell your...crew..." she stared at the small number of people whom had cheered before at the mention of a battle, "...that a skirmish would be useless against a ship without its captain. But if you are so interested in a fight, you could always have a rematch with me, Baglione," she smirked, continuing to twirl her staff on her fingers. She had a feeling, from his reaction at least, that he wouldn't dream of doing the latter, and, if anything, she hoped that she would scare him into backing down from the pointless fight in which, as she knew very well, the Shirokami could win regardless.

But her mind was set simply on the task at hand right now. She wouldn't let this idiot be a distraction from it, and she wouldn't dare say or let anyone else mention that the captain was currently lost to them. Who knows what Bertie would do? Claim the currently captain-less Houkoukaze as his own? Well, if he dare did that, he would probably know that Akane would beat the snot out of him. Yet, she had a feeling the idiot captain would use such knowledge to his advantage in one way or another.

The random crew member who was manning Bertie's cannons shuddered. In his field of vision was a ten-foot tall metallic creature, who he suspected was a secret weapon prepared by the Shirokami crew for their next encounter. He studied his adversary clearly, wary of its every move, of the cunning glint in its metallic eyes, before he realized that said creature did not have eyes, and it was just the sunlight reflecting off its metal surface.

Nevertheless, the random crew member was frightened enough to launch a cannonball square at Visra, tearing off the top half of the golem that was resting innocently on top of the deck. This scenario happened just when Zalryas was making his way out of the ship's basement, which prompted the now-flailing-wildly psion to send the cannonball flying back at Bertie's ship.

The resounding crash and breaking of wood drew all of the peoples' attention to Zalryas, who was now holding the remnants of his precious golem, that being an arm and part of a leg, and seemed to be preparing to launch one of the limbs at the opposing pirate ship.

Indeed, the metallic projectile went flying with psionic force, snapping the ship's mast in two, causing it to puncture a large hole in the ship's cabin, making the already chaotic situation even more mind-numbing. Bertie's ship, which was practically split in half and had a large hole going through its hull, was somehow making its way towards the Shirokami ship before it crashed headlong into it, undoing some of the recent repairs that were made to the airship.

The force of the collision sent Zalryas flying backwards, effectively silencing the previously-screaming psion. Rithys, who was simply watching everything happen around him without moving earlier, decided that it was currently the best time to grab the first crew member of Bertie's alliance who tried to board the Shirokami and start repeatedly knocking the man's head into the ship's railings.

"I think they're attacking us," he said to the members of his own crew in a deadpanned voice as he continued sending blood from pirate minion #1 flying over the deck.

A blast was heard suddenly, and Jalee swiveled around just in time to see Visra, Zalryas' golem, blasted to pieces. Her eyes widened and she felt a rare sympathy welling up inside for her friend. Biting her lip in silent fury, Jalee turned to stare at the "rival" pirate ship with animosity silently brewing in her usually neutral mind. Zalryas proceeded to throw one of Visra's limbs toward the ship with psionic force, and in the course of a chain reaction, the Houkoukaze reverted to the condition it had been in after they survived the Fionan attack.

Jalee nearly fell over from the turbulence of the crash, but she used her recently recovered wind auria to catch her fall and landed lightly on her feet. She pulled her pinwheels out of their sheaths; the blades unfurled with menace and began spinning immediately while Jalee called powerful winds to turn them at a dangerous pace.

She didn't care how mediocre or how harmless these pirates were; she decided that she didn't like them for a number of reasons she didn't care to list. These pirates were special: they as a group were the few people in this world that Jalee disliked.

Blades of wind scattered as she commenced her attack. A few pathetic pirates decided that they would easily win if they ganged up on a 5'1" little girl. They were proven wrong when Jalee slashed through each of them before they could load their bulky firearms.

It was then she remembered that she was helping out the Shirokami, not fighting for her own benefit. "Do you want us to kill them, Akane?" she asked bluntly. "I'm sorry if you do not wish for such a thing. I think some of us fatally injured these pirates already, and those pirates are on a sure road to death."

So much for wishing to avoid a fight. It seemed that one of Baglione's men had suddenly gotten rather cannon happy, and in a string of events in his mind unknown to Akane or anyone else for that matter, he had fired at the large golem that belonged to Zalryas. Akane swerved around at the moment he decided to fire the remains of the golem at the now considered "enemy" ship. She was ready to shout for them to stop, but the damage had already been done. Without even waiting for a command by their pathetic excuse for a captain, Baglione's men had already made it a point to board the ship and fight to the death like blood-sucking leeches drawn to a wound.

Akane's head swerved over towards Baglione, whom seemed to be just as much in shock as Akane was. If it had not been obvious before, it was now certain that this man had absolutely no control over his crew. And, as such, Akane decided that if these men wanted to fight, they'd get a fight. Mentally, however, she dismayed at the fact that the ship would need repairs again after they got out of this mess alive. Indeed, Akane was rather confident in her ability and the ability of the crew to take care of this skirmish within minutes if need be. If Baglione had the courage to call his men back, then perhaps a few of his crew would be spared death...if they would even listen to him.

Jalee directed a question towards Akane after already slashing through a few of the bloodthirsty pirates. Akane looked over at her as she twisted the shaft of her staff that she had previously been twirling around her fingers, allowing it to extend to its full length. Before she could open her mouth to answer, one of the rival pirates decided to come at her, but Akane disposed of him quickly with a strong whack to the head with her staff. "Simple philosophy. Kill whomever wants to kill you," she said in a blunt tone, before adding, "I do not make these decisions."

However, it seemed, others continued to view her as the temporary leader. She had brought it upon herself, of course, as not only was she the one who had to direct the crew out of the Fionan attack, but with her overall strong-willed atmosphere and almost mother-like bossy nature, she had seemed to win the crew over. Or they could just be scared of her. That last bit might have added to it. And in such a moment as this, where lives could potentially be lost again, she couldn't help but voice her opinions or take over. It was just a part of her that Akane couldn't hide -- her actual concern for others.

Akane drew water from the ocean, creating a sort of liquid sphere before freezing it. A sharp breaking came from it as it broke into sharp shards of ice that were hurled at anyone who tried to come close to her with a weapon. Though Baglione's crew was small, and she knew the Shirokami would succeed, she didn't want to keep this fight lasting longer than it should. To her, the whole ordeal was still useless and unnecessary....and she didn't want to have to deal with even more repairs. That would take away time! Time that, in her opinion, they didn't really have. She turned her head towards one of the crew members who was fending off a few of the "rivals" on his own.

"Some of you man the cannons! Fire at will if you must!" She ordered as she heard more cannons firing from the opposite ship. 'Why do we keep running into trouble?' She thought before hitting yet another pirate with her staff, this time in the gut before flipping her staff up to hit him in the skull.

Perhaps it was their courage. Perhaps it was their stupidity. Either way, Rithys found himself going out of the way to not kill the pirates who were attacking him, instead favoring to knock the back of their heads with the blunt edge of his naginata, and sending the unconscious bodies over the side of the boat as his own way of mocking and spiting the Shirokami's lost captain.

Wasn't it his fault that these idiots are after us, anyway? Same goes with every other crew so far, in fact. They all either want to capture the 'great lawbreaker Sarizuko' under the command of Tritiona, or are just after his head for more personal reasons. Damned man. I hope he drowns several times over.

Of course, the silver-haired man made it a point to never mention such thoughts of malice out in the open where he could possibly be overheard by Akane. It was no secret that the quiet, reserved and yet strangely violent female crew member fancied the captain, and neither was it a secret that her water elementalist powers, as strong as they were by themselves, worked to a terrifying scale when they were over the ocean.

Throughout the whole ordeal, Bertie was standing my the sidelines, shouting slogans to inspire his obviously-overpowered pirate crew. Rithys noted that one of the people whom he had tried to send over the edge of the ship was clinging on for dear life, and the other psion had made it back just in time to repeatedly stop on the man's hand.

The silver-haired psion watched in grim fascination as the pirate from Bertie's crew went plummeting out of sight, screaming for help while he was at it. Rithys also noted that Zalryas' frail frame looked awkward carrying the remaining limb of his golem as a bludgeoning weapon, as part of the armament was clearly being held up by psionic force due to the green-eyed psion's lack of physical strength.

Well, a bludgeoning weapon was what Rithys thought the remaining limb was being used as, anyway. To his slight surprise, Zalryas decided to use the last remaining bit of his golem the same way as the previous piece, and blasted it forward towards the opposing ship's captain.

[pls excuse my late reply :OTL: ]

In a matter of minutes, the skirmish was over. Jalee slashed through one of the last men before all was quiet, and only Baglione was left. "P-please spare me and my men! At least, the ones who are still alive!"

The ship was flying at a very low altitude now, almost touching the ocean. The sputtering engine had more than enough gas, but the reopened wound of the Houkoukaze had hurt it rather bad. Jalee's lips thinned as she grew more and more irritated. This was unlike her, but once someone or something set off Jalee's temper, it wasn't something to take lightly. Currents of wind whipped around her with hostility as she walked slowly toward the quivering Baglione.

"Look you." Jalee began in a deadly voice she hadn't used in six years. "You've damaged the Houkoukaze just when we repaired it. You attack us in a time of crisis. You destroy my companion's weapon... and you ask for mercy?" She shook with anger and gritted her teeth. Jalee was sure that no one had seen her like this before, and she wanted to calm down... but it was rather difficult.

"Defeating your whole crew isn't punishment enough." Jalee said with a calm menace. As she got closer to Baglione, whips of wind reached his face. They were not sharp blades, so they did not cut him... but he did get some painful bruises.

"Eep!" he gasped as he shuffled/crawled over to Akane's feet. "M-Miss Akane!" Baglione begged. "P-please. Forgiveness."

The anger in Jalee swelled, but she did not get closer, because she could not really control her wind auria enough at that moment to be sure that she would not hit Akane if she got closer.
