You'll never see a New Flyer Allison or ZFer on the 7 ever again, for the 7 is 8000 central.

You know, the 17 is similar, in that what one mainly would see 8000s with a few Hybrids mixed in for good measure. This past Friday, while down in Center City, I saw nothing but 8000s and a hybrid. Then again, the 17 is one of Southern's busiest routes.

While I was at 69th Street Terminal today, around 2:25PM I saw 5311 heading into the depot passing West Teriminal with the sign on 108 69th Street Terminal and the block sign reading 001. The woman driving it I did not recognize as a Red Arrow driver. I started thinking to myself that something broke down. About 5 minutes later the same woman came back down with 8066. 8066 had a sign frozen on "SEPTA / NOT IN SERVICE / CHARTER." There was a paper sign reading 108 Airport covering the block display. What I believe happenned was that the lady was having trouble with 8066, contacted control, and they told her to take the bus to Victory and get another bus for a trip or two. She then took 5311 out and after the 12:45PM trip, took it back into the yard and brought back out 8066. Looked wierd seeing 8066 coming down Victory Avenue onto Market Street. I know 7001 block on Sundays I believe is the 8:45AM, 10:45AM, 12:45PM, and 2:45PM 108 roundtrips out of 69th Street Terminal. Anyone with further information please reply here.

Also, 5599 was on the 120 / 4545 block nice and clean. 5150 was on the 109 / 4404 block as well.

Saw 5619 today on the 42! So much for Midvale getting more of the 5600's from Southern. Also, saw 8097 on the 23...the crawl on the 8000's needs an update!-MTG

I spotted 5395 on the 7 yesterday & a 53xx assigned to the 37 today eastbound @ 64th & Lindbergh Boulevard this morning.

I spotted 3411 on the 23 yesterday.

Southern isn't what it used to be. For me, back in the 1980s, the highlights of the routes that radiated from Southern depot were the communities surrounding the Italian Market, Queen Villiage & the Elmwood area served by the 37(70th & Lindbergh Boulevard area),as well as the Naval base.
Factor those surroundings & qualities with 1982 Neo AK transits 8357-8397,8401-8410, 1984 Neo BM transits 8671-8697, 1985 Neo CD transits 8756-8788 & 1987 Neoo EB transits 3212-3236 & you had Southern depot.

The 108 became an all wheelchair accessible line in 1993 when the line was extended through the Elmwood area that was once served by former route U.

This meant that the 1980 GMC RTS bus order,8265-8284 assigned to Red Arrow tended to show up frequently on the Red Arrow share of the 108 & Southern ran their 1989 Neo EZ II transits(3480-3491) on the 108 frequently as well to meet the needs at that time.

Another Neoplan bit the dust at Midvale. 3398 has been retired. 3458 still rests in a bay at Frankford depot, ready for anything, anytime.

Sigh....NABIs are just horrible....

Was riding 5325 on the 98 this morning, and we go through ambler...bounce...BAM BAM as we went across the railroad tracks as NABIs tend to do (horrible suspension).

Unfortunately the low air buzzer went off...but we couldnt stop - we had to get to willow Grove!

Therefore, we kept driving on low air, the tank wouldnt refill (something probably broke) until the doors basically couldnt operate, and the ride was incredibly bouncy! The wheels were rubbing against the wheelwell apparently, causing smoke to appear and the smell of burning rubber...

I see why SEPTA wants to replace these buses at the 12 year mark.

The NABIs have the worst suspension of the fleet. Nightly i ride a bus by the 309/Turnpike interchange and feel the hard BAM BAM BAM as the bus hits the bumps hard. The suspension is shot, Berridge didnt quite help.

NABI had a lawsuit with SEPTA about this - they wouldnt back up their buses with a warranty.

that's why we have 400 instead of 600.

I hope SEPTA never buys another NABI product again, regardless of what they come out with.

For shame...I dont know what's going to happen with 5325 today.
