It seems like the New engine Grills on the 2001 New Flyers was pretty short lived, as 5463 already reverted back to its original styled one. |

Both Millenium RTS buses were sighted in South Jersey today. First 4201 [Suburban version] was seen on its usual afternoon/evening run on the 403, and 4101 [transit version] was deadheading on White Horse Pike in Collingswood around 7 pm today. I gave 4201 a good ride last Saturday. The bus kind of rattled a little bit as it was cruising on White Horse Pike, and there was a funny clicking noise coming from the roof-mounted HVAC unit. I also got a picture, and it will be posted when I'm ready to download the pics from my camera. |

Saw 5640 today for the first time in months on the 23. Didn't realize it at first, until I was staring at the engine and hearing an ISL - it sounds quite like an 8000 indeed. I wasn't able to tell if it was an Allison or not at first, as we were in Center City and it remained in like the first gear...until I heard that familiar air release. So, I guess this bus is a mainstay on the 23...and still looks filthy as ever. |

You're talking about Midvale here!!! They have 300+ buses, and probably only half the fleet is properly cleaned out, washed and maintained on a daily basis. Most of th other depots are better than that. I don't think Elmwood's car wash is fixed yet again. |

Hurrah! I got to leave work early, and of course, I did some nice transitfanning. It started off as a Neo based trip, as I got an artic on the 80. On route 8, I got Frontier sensation 3484, which was interestingly different - the torque converter was messed up I guess, which meant that there was no lockup, which made it become a Neo screamer! Fortunately the a/c wasn't on and I managed to get a decent recording of it, which hopefully will appear online soon. Once I got to Frankford, I missed a Neoplan (3427) on the 66, and was waiting for the next one when I saw 3423 pull in on the 25. As I wanted to go downtown in order to get a chance of finding NJT's MTS buses, I hopped on it for a 44 minute ride (at least, that's the length of my recording ) down to Penn's Landing. It seemed like I was lucky, as it was one of two of Neoplans on the route. An interesting experience was how only 1/2 of the back door opened (a little squeeze to get out). I made my way to Festival Pier, and observed ice skaters on the RiverRink, and hopped on some artic on the 33 to get to the section of Market Street to catch NJT. I hopped 3147 on the 406, which wasn't a bad ride. It was interesting to record, but was very interesting how it didn't seem to go into its third gear! The engine was screaming so much on the Ben Franklin Bridge that I was worried the engine would blow or something. Wow, I was certainly glad I got that recorded. I hung around WRTC for a little while, then gave up and hopped on 3704 for an expectingly boring ride back to Philadelphia so I could catch my bus home. Something told me I should wait a bit longer at WRTC, because as I came out of McD's to get my "supper", I saw 4201 on the 403 tearing up Broad Street. Unfortunately, I couldn't make that bus for a ride, but if it runs on the same run, hopefully I can catch it again. It looked really nice though, and the lights were off, making it look really nice. While in Philadelphia, I saw that 5532 had it's destination information squished to one side of the sign. Also, Callowhill's 5417 and 5423 are wrapped in a nice holiday United States Postal Service Wrap. The best thing is that it doesnt covor the windows at all, and seemed to be made for the New Flyers it was on, as there was a "door" in the wrap that was actually right over the "center door". I made my way onto 7138, which sounded horrible (maybe something with the driveshaft) and simmered down on 5336, my first NABI of the day (I'll really have to get used to that, as my morning 98 now is 100% New Flyer instead of 99% NABI). As the weather was very dreary, I didn't get any pics of today's adventures. Better luck next time I suppose. |
