Joe, that is unfortunate. Now you should see some of the stuff that takes place on the Midvale routes when school lets out

Many if not all Midvale operators know that control center isn't very reliable so they keep their cell phones on while in operation.

I spotted 5255 on the 84 yesterday. 5371 on a southern share of the 23 yesterday as well.

And a Silverliner II consisting of 4 cars running on the Chestnut Hill East branch this evening near Wayne Junction.

Joe the 101 and 102 were a mess. My mom called to tell me it took her 2 hours to get home. When she got to 69th St at 4:30 there were people standing on the platform but no trollies. No announcement was made until 4:40 that the trollies were not running and there would be a shuttle bus. A bus came and took them to Shadeland Ave where they were to change to the trolley for Sharon Hill. Once they got off the bus and were about to get on the trolley the supervisor decided to make it a Media local. The people were furious and asked when a Sharon Hill would be comng. The supervisor did not know so he decided to call the shuttle bus back (it had already left). The bus came back and he was instructed to drive to Sharon Hill. Well the poor guy had no idea where he was going.......ended up going wrong way on Marshall Road. 45 minutes later as they pulled up to Baltimore Pike station there was 3 trollies sitting there in the direction of 69th St. A trolley operator got on the bus and told the passengers to board the trolley. She boarded the trolley and fortunately the rest of the trip was uneventful....arriving Sharon Hill at 6:05. And she told me the bus driver asked the trolley guy had to get back to the yard....must have been a new guy.

Joe here is one for you to firgure out. At 3:25 this afternoon I saw 5653 pull into 69th St. with 4405 block displayed and a sign reading "12 - 5th and Market" (I kid you not). The route announcer even said "Welcome to Route 12 service to Center City". This bus then became the 3:45 110 to Springfield Mall (with the proper sign but still 4405 block displayed). This trip is usually 4620 block coming off of the 119, but 4405 would be a 109 block.

I had 5862 on the 3:30 (4459 block) 111 to Chadds Ford. The bus smelled real bad of diesel inside. You would have thought they opened the door and sprayed the fuel inside. This trip is a pull out from Victory so it may have been just fueled.

5653 was on 109 / 4405 block Tuesday. That would explain that part. 5878 was on 109 / 4405 block today. Dave managed to steal an Allison Flyer (5654) today for his 109 / 4407 block. He thinks the 5600s have a different braking system than the other Flyers. Can anyone confirm this? Dave says if he has a choice he likes the 5400s and 5500s the best. He usually gets stuck with a 5800. Dave also has a problem with his first trip sometimes as well (the 1:20 to Chester). It isn't him but the guy on the 109 arriving at 12:52 (that would be Sam on 4401 block) always puts up 109 CHESTER on the sign despite the fact that his relief is the 1:30 111 to Penn State which becomes the 2:30 117 out of Penn State (this bus does not pull in until about 8:17 at night). Sometimes the starters will pull 4401 block around thinking it is the 1:20 109 but then Dave comes out of the yard and starts cursing them out for doing that! Thus they have to move the bus after kicking everyone off and get it in the right position.

When did the N-5s start getting electronic signs?

When did the N-5s start getting electronic signs?

That has been a fairly recent development. I have to admit that, though I may be in the minority here, they don't look too bad. Considering that it's less of a pain to simply switch an electronic sign than it is to have to manually switch two roll signs (and more often than not, the destination signs on both sides are different) I don't think it's a bad thing. The electronic signs seem to be a better fit on the N-5 cars than on the 101/102 trolley cars (though that could change in a few years, you never know).

Those bus signs are a riot. I was on the 104 last Sunday to West Chester that left at 5:05 PM. About mid-way through the trip, it began showing Route 64 to Wyalusing or something. It was only for a few seconds, then it was back to Route 104.

Computers do strange things, the riding public is used to it.

Did anybody see the ad for Dwight Evans? A young lad gets on a SEPTA bus. I'd like to know if anybody knows this driver or was it an actor?

Yeah, I seen that ad too. The bus in question appears to be the clean bus - 8099.
