(saw neo's 3428,3419,3421,3394,3395,3397 at frankford)

I must get up there to ride one of those old timers. I have mentioned this before, I love that whiny transmission. I have a sound clip of it in my Real Player.

And I have two video's on youtube. ^_^

This is from KYW 1060 website. Anybody seen any in service?

SEPTA Shifts Trolley Models to Fill a Rt. 15 Gap

by KYW's John Ostapkovich
Riders of SEPTA's Route 15 trolley, along Girard Avenue and Richmond Street, have had some different wheels lately. But it's only temporary.

The Rt. 15's regular rolling stock looks old, but it's actually vintage PCC trolley shells dropped over new chassis and motors (picture above).

Nonetheless, SEPTA spokesman Richard Maloney says, there's been some trouble:

"The past few days we've had a shortage of the new PCC trolleys. It's just mechanical problems, but we've had extra Kawasaki trolleys available because of a water main break in West Philadelphia."

The Kawasaki trolleys, those on the subway-surface lines, look newer but are actually older and are not handicapped-accessible. But, Maloney says, they fill the need:

"It's a much longer haul to get the trolley from their regular trolley barn out to the Rt. 15, but we can do that when we need to do this."

And the new, old trolleys are due back any time now.

5373 was seen on the 11 bus shuttle to Darby Monday, and 5382 was on the shuttle Tuesday.

Several Frankford buses have been seen on Midvale routes recently - 5767 was on the 55 yesterday, and 5156 was on the 18 Saturday.

9000 and 9007 were among the trolleys spotted at Woodland on Tuesday. 9000 still has its original signs - its front destination sign read "50 (Short Route) - 3rd and Wyoming."

I tend to see the 484(St Hubert HS for Girls) charter at times. I saw a ZFer from Frankford covering the run this week & an Allison last week.

The 484 runs over the former route 41 route, which was operated from Comly, along Welsh Road & Holmesburg & Pennypack to Pine Valley.

I spot the 484 with 2508 block. It may be an 88 trip interlined with this charter.

At times I see the first 88 running through Pennypack(leaving Darlington @ 6am). The block for this trip is 2784.

Do the Frankford shares of the MFL Nite Owl have blocks in the 275x series?

Rode 9057 on the 15 this afternoon. It was neat to ride an LRV on Girard Ave.

There was a mixture of PCC-II's , and buses , also.

Fun on the 15.

I got to Broad & Girard at around 4:00, just in time to miss a westbound K-car. I hopped on the next PCC-II and chased it down to the other end. I was beginning to think I had seen an illusion, and at 59th I was ready to give up and go home, and got off, and just then it pulled up in the other direction. 9046. I got a shot and ran over and caught it back to Broad St. Another K-car passed me on the way there. It was a mix of PCC-IIs, K-cars, and buses with some odd destination signs including "PHILADELPHIA" and 108.

yours truly spotted an Eldroado on a nortbound 23 @ Germantwon & Tioga yesterday afternoon, coming from Central Philadelphia.

Mystery Mix on Girard Avenue, the SEPTA system becoming less & less amusing, what's next, Carl R. Bieber giving up their stickshift tour buses so SEPTA can use them on the 124 & 125?

An El Dorado on the 23 is a travesty. On Germantown avenue they shake you to death. Is Midvale that short on buses that they send a lawnmower out?
