Rode 3440 on the 8 on Friday, 804 Block

Best Neoplan Ride ever!

The Guy was late, but he made up for lost time as traffic was light. The two best parts of the ride was the front door was sticky at Bridge anf Oxford, so he threw the bus into Nuetral and revved it up, just to get the air pressure up. And He hauled some serious Ass on the blvd, Neoplan screaming all the way.

When I usually ride the Neoplans, the operators are pretty gentle, So it was nice to ride on a trip like it was back in the day 5 yrs. ago.

I've been trying to get a Neoplan on the 8 for some time now in my opinion it's the best route to ride a Neoplan now, particularly on the Boulevard. I got a great recording of 3484 on it - now I'd like a normal shifting Neo. Maybe one day, i guess.

What is block 804? What time does that leave Olney Transportation Center?

Anyway, I rode 3483 on the R today. The a/c wasn't working, so it was hot like a sauna. However, soon, after I got a seat and relaxed, I cooled down and it was really a nice ride.

Anyway, I really do miss the days when the drivers pushed the buses in general. Nowadays it seems like you can tell the veterans from the newer people - the vets know that back in the day, if you wanted your bus to move (and remain on schedule) you had to punch it!

I used to go to school in Center city (CHAD), but have transfered to a suburban school. On Wednesdays we got out early, so i would always head to Frankford via the el, to ride a neoplan on the 8. A neoplan usually showed up on the 2:10pm departure to Olney Terminal. It was a Caucasian male driving, and he'd call out the route at the stops, as seen in my youtube videos.

Rode 5516 on the 75 today. Nice rehab from Berridge Shops.
Rode the EL, no announcements or digital displays, just doors opening, doors closing.

5709 was on the 59. It's transfer holder broke right off the crossbar. The driver showed me how the casting cracked and split open on the clamp part.
Rode 5144 on the 104. Not in service was displayed, but the date/time function was OK. The engine/muffler on the bus sounded really bad.

Don't you mean 5509? 5709 is a Midvale bus.

It could have been 5709. A lot of Midvale buses break down on the 26 and are towed to Comly or Frankford. This is the main reason why you see a Neoplan 40 footer at Midvale or a Comly Ikarus at Midvale.

That makes sense . I remember when my friend Roro had a NABI break down at Richmond and Westmoreland , they brought her a Neo from Frankford for her run on the 15. The the Neo had balky center doors, so she swapped out for a NABI from Callowhill at 63 & Girard. Quite an interesting day on the 15, I'd say.

So maybe I was right with 5709. I hope they can fix the transfer holder. The casting clamp that holds it to the crossbar broke.

Speaking of odd sightings on the 26, I saw 5392 (Southern) on the 26 yesterday afternoon at Olney Terminal. Surprisingly, the electronic sign displayed the correct route and destination, so no paper sign was needed.

I guess a lot of trolleys are moving back and forth between Callowhill and Elmwood - for instance, 9075 was on the 10 yesterday, and 9102 and 9108 were on the 13.

I had a chance to ride 7210 last week, and there were a ton of video cameras installed (at least five of them), including one attached to the outside of the bus, and one attached to the console looking out the front windshield.
