What is block 804? What time does that leave Olney Transportation Center?

Sorry for the delay. 2804 block is the block I usually see on the 8 in the mornings. Namely, the 5:25 departure to Olney Terminal & back.

A Sunday of odd sightings and shenanigans...

Earlier I rode 9088 on the 15. due to police parking on the tracks @ 26th & Girard, the trolleys were jacked up everywhere and had to shorturn whenever possible. I also spotted two Neo Artics and a Comly NABI. As the K-Car rolled up, the guy next to me shouted KAWASAKI! and affectionatly referred the K-Car as the big white caddilac. And it was.

Later that night I witnessed some shenanigans on both the MFO & BSO. On 5716, (3550 block) some drunk knucklehead yaked all over the back of the bus. I nodded off & missed my stop, and this fool wakes me up by coughing and puking. It smelled like an old pina colada and stale baby food...ugh. I did the right thing and made a report to the operator so he could pull the bus out of service.

Then on 525X, (2784 block, maybe?) I had to protect some fool from getting the well deserved asswhopping of his lifetime. This fool who wouldn't stop his corny jokes, joked about beating his wife to the wrong brother. next thing I know I'm holding the kid back from laying the smackdown on him.

After I got off at 40th Street, a bum tells me that some fool who passed out in the front aisle on the bus before mine bitchslapped the arresting officer at 69th street. So you can immagine how that scenario ended.

Sorry for the long post, but I love posting about shenanigans

I'm a long-time public transit fan & SEPTA rider. SEPTA often annoys the heck out of me. But reading these posts helps remind me why I love the trains and subways and buses and trolleys so much (despite everything!)

I recently started a blog to talk about my dismay with SEPTA. Feel free to check it out at http://septawatch.blogspot.com/

My friend rides 6576 (North Penn Limited, 5:12 PM R5 out of 30th Street to Doylestown) everyday. Today the train was 5 cars instead of 6 (and it is usually standess coming out of Market East with 6 cars). Only two times before has my friend encountered Budds and Louies (IIs and IIIs) on this train. Well make that 3 because today 6576 had 5 Budds and Louies. The consist was 223, 269 (with full PENNSYLVANIA lettering), 9012, 9003, and 236. My friend rushed to get a seat on 269. He normally rides the tail car since it stops near where he parks at North Wales. I managed to get pics of 269 earlier in the day in Powelton Yard. While a fence got in my way, here they are.

I was told that an Eldorado was present on the 9 sometime this week during the weekday AM rush hour en route to Central Philadelphia.

Sometime this week I spotted 5501 & 5514 on the Roosevelt Boulevard. 5514 doesn't have the fleet number on the drivers side below the windshield. 5514 has the fleet number on the curbside only.

5501 was & still is freshly painted, no ads, new windows.

I spotted a stalled 8040 @ 12th & Arch southbound on route 23 with operator & supervisor present.

Finally, I spotted a hybrid along Frankford Avenue(north of Gregg) sometime this week.

As for the white "S" on the destination sign, Neos 3024 & 3460 had them as well.

A lot of the Nabi's from Callowhill don't have the fleet number on the driver's side below the windshield. They only have the number on the curbside.

I saw an El Dorado on the 104 yesterday. Are they that short of buses that that thing had to be on the 104? It's a long ride from West Chester on a bouncy bus.

A lot of the Nabi's from Callowhill don't have the fleet number on the driver's side below the windshield. They only have the number on the curbside.

When the first round of the 1996 NABI 416 40 footers(5001-5161, 5163-5164) were delivered, none of the NABIs assigned to Callowhill or Comly, the eldest of the Midvale NABIs(5154-5161, 5163-5164), as well as the 5100s assigned to the suburban depots had the fleet number below the windshield. 5003 - 5005, 5008 and 5009 had small fleet numbers on the top rear of the bus.

The entire original order of NABIs assigned to Callowhill depot didn't have the fleet numbers on the rear of the bus(top or engine cover) when they were delivered.
5059-5133, 5134-5153, 5154-5161, 5163-5164 had the fleet numbers(in blue)on the engine cover, bottom, right rear tire side when they were delivered.

When delivered, the NABIs assigned to Callowhill at that time(5001-5058) didn't have the fleet number on the inside of the bus, below the stop requested sign.

The Callowhill NABIs are my favorite NABIs in the entire SEPTA system.

You probably saw one of the 118 pull in trips. They tend to use Eldorados on those.
