Well if that were, my guess is the engine fail safe device would shut the engine off. But from what I heard the DDEC an WTEc computers rarely fails.

As a lot of you know, I was in the Army and drove Light Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTV's) made my Stewart-Stevenson and buses also. In the Army's LMTV's they had Caterpillar C-7 engines and they also had Allison B400R 6-spd transmissions so I am very familiar with the Allision gear box. There is (in this order) an arrow pointing up, the reverse button, neutral, drive and an arrow pointing down. The arrows were for switching the gears; i.e. downshifting and reducing how many gears you wanted to shift, meaning if you have a 6-speed transmission and you only wanted your vehicle to only go up to 3rd gear, you set it for that differential.

you sure its a B400R and not a MD series transmission? It seems very uncommon for the Allison World transmission to leave Bus Market. The B-400R is design specifically for Urban/OTR cruiser travel. Where as the MD transmission is design for specialty vehicles such as firetrucks, army equipment, etc...

no it was the B400R. I was married to our motorpool, i just about drove those trucks almost everyday. the army does things "idiot-proof".
