The 1982 Neo AK,1983 Neo BD,1984 Neo BM(BP) & 1985 Neo CD models had the classic Neoplan spread across the back wall of the bus.

A good day for me was when I rode something like 1982 Neo AK transit 8386 or 8404 on the 17 in South Philadelphia with a standing load, unable to do anything else except hear the engine & see the word Neoplan spread across the back wall of the bus.

Or even better, sit on 8626 on the 23 at 11th & Market Streets.

Yes they did. Yes they did.

Have any of you even ridden Neoplans elsewhere in PA? While SEPTA's AK thru CD's had "NEOPLAN" on the inside rear wall, several other properties also had "NEOPLAN" nameplates on the outside front (on the panel between the headlights) AND the back (on the engine cover).

It has been longstanding SEPTA practice to not display make nameplates or emblems on the outside of vehicles. The only exception was with the 40-foot Volvo #8590, which did have the Volvo name & sweepspear on the front. This was probably because #8590 was not originally ordered new by SEPTA, it having been given to SEPTA by Volvo after briefly having run for Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.

lets take time to remember our buses in this new series:

BUSES WE ONCE LOVED

i never got a chance to grow up thouroughly with the RTS's but i'd say that 4462 was the best.

when it was on the 44 my family used to ride it. I remember those comfy seats, but was scared of the expressway.

4462 is said to be the only RTS left and is safe and secure somewhere in this nation. some day the RTS will come bac.

Q: what was your reaction to NABI buses and when do you think they should live no more?

(my answer was cool these buses are all right and i think they should die right around......next week. I HATE NABI!)

Those buses are SO FUGLY. If I wanted more artics , then I prefer seeing more New Flyers, especially the DE60LF.

At this point, count me in for a "possible" bid for the New Flyer 60 foot low floor articulated buses as well.

But don't put the "8000" engines in them please. Let them have the DDT 60 trannie/powertrain(or the most up to date of the DDT) in them with 6 cylinders. Now we would have an artic.
