I think the 76 designation was retired when SEPTA decided to abolished the Spree route back in 2002-2003.

So the 76 would be the Spree. Whatever happened to the SPREE anyway is it gone because of low ridership?

You just answered your own question.

The 76 was converted into the Shopping Spree, and 1234 Market wanted something along the lines of the old Shopper Specials during the late 70's and Early 80's. The original routing was along Market and Walnut turning at 18th and 6th. That routing lasted only a few months when it was extended to Penns Landing. The problem was that it ran every 20 minutes ON WEEKDAYS.

And we all know that the Market Street Eastbound Combined (17, 33, 44, 48)has a rough Frequency of TWO minutes, and Walnut Street is slightly faster with the 21/42 alone. Since it barely ran Saturdays, SEPTA just abolished it and transferred the subsidy money over to the City owned/SEPTA ran PHLASH (301).

During the heyday of the original BenFrankLine, that bus DID stop at 5 PM, but Wednesdays it was extended til 9.

Since service on the 76 didn't start until 9 AM, those guys ended up starting up on various morning trippers, notably the 44/121, and the 65 (I vividly remember 3443 turning the corner at Wayne and Chelten with the route sign operational

6569th STREET TERMNL

Good times.....

I have to hit the lotto (powerball is scratching 100 mil) so I can buy 3443, 3427, 7011, and 3414 if they're still back there.

I'm going to miss them.

The NABIs, ummm not so much.

I'll miss them though, and I think SEPTA should have gotten AN440's for 2001 instead of D40LF's

I'll take 7011 off your hands. Want a 3300 suburban instead? ^_^
