Anyone know anything about a new route 81 that is supposed to operate between 69th Street Terminal and South Philadelphia Columbus Commons? My friend Doug saw something about it earlier today and is wondering if this is official or someone is playing a dirty trick on the riders. It is supposed to serve Yeadon, Darby, SW Philly, Eastwick Post Office, and Whitman Plaza on the way. If anyone knows anything PLEASE POST! |

I would have to guess the latter, as there's nothing on the SEPTA web site that indicates that such a route exists or is being considered for the new schedule changes next week. We are starting to get around that time for the Annual Service Plan hearings, so it could be a proposal that will go through the ASP process this spring. UPDATE: Today, I recieved a notice in the mail from SEPTA indicating that there will be no Annual Service Plan process this year and that any proposals that were to have been considered for this year will be carried over into next year. |

When I was 11 I imagined service from Pier 70 & Columbus Commons and 69th St Term. would be on a Route 4. |

Maybe, route 81 could be an extension/service increase on the 116, some areas should have more service than others, like closer to the ends, and route 81/116 should be a 40ft bus route as opposed to Eldorado, and also, it should be a 2 zone route seeing how it will be traveling for a long time, that will be like a 2-3 hour ride if you ride it full route! Route 116 should not be cancelled. It should stay as is, and route 81 can go express from 69th Street to Eastwick Post office, then local service to Whitman Plaza, then limited stops to Pier 70, local to Coloumbus Commons. |
