Route 311? That was discontinued in December of 2004 - it's just the 310 now. |

Kudos to my driver on the 75 who made a spectacular turn around a stuck tractor -trailer at Arrott terminal. The trailer was blocking the usual right turn off of Oxford Ave, into the Rte. 75 stand. My guy went to the left ,completely around the tractor-trailer, swung a hard right and got the bus into the stand. I guess the guy figured out a little too late that his truck would not fit under the EL. Chuck Greene |

I rode a Nabi on the 104 to West Chester yesterday. There was a short lady in a black outfit sitting next to me. I dozed off , only to be awakened by the driver yelling at her as she got off the bus. She never turned around and kept walking. I heard someone say something about a pass. I asked the driver later when I got off what had happened. He said she tried to pay me with a pass. (I guess that wasn't enough fare.) He said , don't worry, I'll see her again, I'm out here all summer, she will have to pay me twice when I get her the next time. Chuck Greene |

Mr Greene, I go through that with Midvale & the 55. At one time, the 55 was a 4 zone route. Old time Midvale operators(Luzerne, Germantown) often referred to the "lack of change for zone" as the "40 cent fight" @ Willow Grove Mall. People would get on the outbound 55 @ Olney Terminal aware of the fact that they're on a route requiring base fare plus zone fare. On the outbound 55 trips, above Cheltenham Avenue, the operators don't let people off the rear door of the bus unless it is absolutely necessary. People would sneak by the operator without paying for the zone. The operator would quickly point out that they need to deposit the fare plus zone(most of the passengers used transpasses). At times, the old time Midvale(Luzerne/Germantown) operators may have punished them by riding them well past their stop. For inbound trips on the 55 ,the operator may have bypassed the "problem riders" or "told them to don't even bother get on the bus without the zone". I rode the L into Whitemarsh tonwship back in the summer of 2001, I recall an operator on an outbound route L trip that would stop the bus @ Germantown & Northwestern Avenues coming through the bus asking people for zone fares, stand up & ask the riders for zone far, & he probably threw the non zone paying riders off the bus. And thats me & my Midvale. Comly opeators probably go through the same thing on a more severe scale. |

To CA Crafter, Thanks for the nice write-up on your Midvale experiences. With fares going up today, we can expect more fare gouging to happen. I realize things are tight, but people act like it's their privilege to ride the bus , and not pay the fare. The zone fare culprits are the worst. |

5238 has no bike rack. Rode it on the 55 and another NABI on the 22 tonight. Was hoping for at least one Cummins New Flyer, so I was very disappointed. |

There are no zone charges on the weekends. All passes are good for travel anywhere on weekends. |
