The changes I would like to see are as follows: Make the 29 & 79 trackless routes again. I't relatively easy to do. I'd be greatful if Southern got 10 to 15 trackless units. The 96 would be re-extended to Telford. The 98 would be re-extended to Oaks(via Egypt Road). |

1 .More BSS service, especially in the mornings when I use to take it. It would get really hot at Olney with all the people standing around. I would always wonder why the trains arn't coming every 2-3 minutes since it is rush hour. 2. Run the Express on the weekends. 3. Make the Spur 3-4 cars, there is definitively room at 8th-Market, not sure about Fairmount. Edited by Jayayess1190, Jun 22 2008, 12:52 PM.

You can't do that anyway. Question: how often do you ride on the MFL and for how long? How old are you? Like much of the city, the way that Market street was design prior (early 1800s) to the arrival to the MFL (1900s). The street mainly had horses traveling on it. It was indeed a very different period in this country. The streets were mainly narrow in size. The maximum amount of trackage to have above Market street is 2 tracks! In order for your suggestion: ALL of the businesses along Market street would need to close down. By doing that ti will have a huge effect on the City's economy. It would cost the city billions of dollars just to plan this new layout!! My self personally, I feel the current system works perfectly as it is. It does not need to be changed! |

Well I would have a 6-8 minute headway on the express then to have all approaches/medium clears/stop signal aspects from FTC down to Walnut!!
The expresses does run on the weekends, just not as often! I think one time I saw a two car consists on the express!! http://septa.org/service/sched/bss_sat_south.html
You must have ridden it on the weekends! On the weekdays, however, they get four car consists. |

WHAT?! I used to take the Spur everyday to/from school in center city and every train I saw/rode was two cars. And as for Express service on weekends, I meant the Walnut-Locust Express. I have ridden the spur on the weekends. Edited by Jayayess1190, Jun 22 2008, 02:13 PM.

I second that! I have yet to see a 4 car spur, and I usually take the Spur downtown during the week. I wish they ran the expresses at least on Saturdays as well. And the BSS could use more weekday local service. There's a lot of express service between the Express and the Spur, but the locals seem to take forever to arrive, especially when waiting at a local stop! |

Well I see them all of the times on the weekdays during midday. Then again this was a few months ago. On the weekends is when I see the 2 car consists!

And remember, even though they don't have to do it anymore, there are operators that still change the markers from Girard-8th Market to Fern Rock-Walnut-Express and back just to make sure their route is correct. So if you see green don't always assume its an express. |
