All TAs roadeos are not open to the public. Its basically the TAs employee picnic. Where employees and families can attend. As well as friends of TA staff. So the best choice would be to find out what day a TA roadeo is is to ask a operator that you know. They will be more likely to tell you. Bmore MTA is lately doing theirs in March or April so I missed the last 2.

I already know a few SEPTA employees so I'll have no problem being at the roadeo. Remember, don't listen to anything that says it is not open to the public. You can still go!

They said that last year as well. From my understanding, the roadeos have NEVER been open to the public. However, they never seemed to mind us transit buffs coming to them. To all of our true transit fans on here, I have this to tell you. PLEASE IGNORE ANYTHING YOU SEE OR HEAR ABOUT THE ROADEO BEING CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PRIMARILY AIMED AT THE DRIVERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE ALWAYS WELCOMED US! AS LONG AS WE DON'T DO ANYTHING OUT OF LINE, WE WILL BE FINE (THIS INCLUDES THE REVVING OF THE ENGINES, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!

To add to this, don't let anyone tell you it's okay to start the bus either. Some people out there that act like they are Mr. SEPTA will encourage you to do so. I'm not naming names...

I trust that all of you have enough common sense to know what to do and what not to do with something that isn't yours, particularly a transit vehicle...which is DEFINITELY NOT a toy!

To those who have never attended, it's really a nice function. If you go there, I recommend watching the competition (although it is at a distance). Also, the historic buses are nice, and, if they are open, you can sit in the driver's seat. Many transit buffs like to play with the signs, but really, there's so much more to it than that.

Lunch is provided, and if the driver is cool, you might be able to ride a historic bus in the parade! I got to ride (over the years) an RTS, a Volvo, a Dorado, and i like to think the Flx, but I don't quite remember. Standing outside and watching the show is cool too.

DART First state usually is there. Other TA's used to visit, as well as Greyhound and the Philadelphia School District. I'm not sure what's going on now, but we'll see...

Pictures of past roadeos are on PTV MSN Group - http://groups.msn.com/philadelphiatransitv...roadeo2005.msnw

PS: Whatever happened to pics of that 2006 Roadeo guys?

I have always been welcomed to the Bmore MTA Roadeos. The 05 Roadeo I did get to sit in the driver seat of both a GRTC Gillig Phantom 815. And MTA New Flyer 04113. I didnt touch any of the controls except maybe the adjusters on the driver seats. Both were Recaro Ergo Ms.
