Sounds like a good idea. But I see arguments happening when the kids try to use the passes at night or on the weekend. Some drivers will let it slide which will cause problems for drivers that won't let it slide.

The problem I have with a regular weekly pass for students is the fact that it can be abused by their parents. Take for example a student who has a parent who works the midnight shift at UPS. Since their kid is home, they may use the kid's pass (if they're the same sex as the kid) to get to and from work on SEPTA. Since they'd get home before the kid has to go to school, the kid would be able to us the pass again. In my opinion, the free pass should be a student pass with restricted hours. The hours should be the same as the school tokens (5:30AM-7:00PM school weekdays). If the kid needs to get to work after school and doesn't get off until after 7, they'll have to use tokens. The restricted hours means the pass will be less likely to be abused by parents who would be getting at "free ride" themselves as in the example above.

The Weekly SEPTA TransPass will enable students to ride SEPTA during
the mornings and afternoons but will not work on evenings and weekends.
