SEPTA Bus and Trolley Collide; No Serious Injuries

by KYW's Ian Bush

More than a dozen people were hurt, but none seriously, on Monday afternoon when a Septa bus and trolley collided in Philadelphia's Kingsessing section.

A Septa spokesman says the accident happened around 2:45pm near the intersection of 49th Street and Woodland Avenue, between a Route 11 trolley and a Route 52 bus.

At least 19 people were taken to a local hospital and were reported to have only minor injuries.

Septa says the accident is under investigation.

I know car 9033 was the Rt. 11 involved, and the post-accident investigation revealed a bad V-Tag & Bad Brakes. V-tag is on operator's console in which you enter your route & it will control all electric switches usually requiring turn signal assistance!

A bad intersectiion... So much goes on there with Transit vehicles

The 36 trolley turns there
The 12, and the 52 layover there
The 11 goes down woodland av.

So someone must have not been paying attention

No, this collision happened at 50th & Woodland during the 49th St. Rail-Renewal & the Rt. 52 was laying over on 50Th St. The trolley was Eastbound at the switch when the V-Tag activated the switch causing the trolley to turn left into the bus which was about to make a right on Woodland.
