Where do most of the runs for the C, 2, 23, 47, 47M, and 57 come out of?

The C is almost evenly split between Midvale and Southern on both divisions. A vast majority of the BSO trippers switch to either the C or 57. The 2 is more Southern heavy. Midvale has twice as many trips on the 23 than Southern, including the two NightLiner runs. The 47M is ALL Southern. I'm not certain of the service on the 47 or 57 since I don't catch them like that.

Midvale dominates the aforementioned routes on evenings, weekends and holidays.

Regretfully, Midvale doesn't have the 47m anymore.

Why are the C, 2, 23, 47, and 57 and BSO spilt between Midvale and Southern?

The idea is to minimize deadhead times and spread out the work. This way on these long routes, if a delay occurs at one of the depots, at least there is still some service out there on the routes.

Midvale covers rt. 47 Nite owl (Blocks 3300, 3301 & 3558).
On Sundays, Rt. 17 blocks cover some 47 trips.

Rt. 47m block no is 7991 & 5 (more blocks most likely), but since it's a short route with 20 min. intervals, I think they only use 2 buses. 71 - Navy Yard Shuttle also has a 799X block number; can't remember since last friday.

Do any of the BSO trips turn into route 18 trips?

Probably not, since the deadhead time would be up there (Fern Rock to Fox Chase). Most will turn to the 57 or Nedro division C, with some going to Cheltenham for the Ogontz Division. Southern Owls convert to the first northbound Nedro C and 47.

Midvale has some deadheads that make little sense to me.

How and why does Midvale send several of their C,2,23,47 & 57 trips to start their runs in South Philadelphia? That seems like a waste of fuel and wear.

Route 23, block 3104, during the week, last trip ends at 10th & Bigler Streets. Deadheads from South Philadelphia to Midvale.

I think that on Sundays, Route C, 3813 block, starts @ 15th & Market @ 5:09pm en route to "the top".

Here's a real odd deadhead:
9524 Block (Callowhill rt. 52 afternoon/evening run) deadheads from 54th/City to FTC to cover only one Market Frankford Owl half trip (12:05 FTC To 69TH St.).
