We have a new PATCO page on our website at http://www.philadelphiatransitvehicles.cjb.net/patco.php. It has an overview of the system as well as its history and plans for the future. Hope you like it - please let us know what you think! PHOTOGRAPHERS: If possible, would you please help us in getting more pictures of PATCO so we can expand our gallery? Thanks in advance! Also, I wanted to establish some revised guidelines for topics brought up in some sections of the forums. This might help make some topics easier to find. First, Daily Sightings - this section is really for what you see while you are out for the day. Special sighting, like "I saw 5479 on top of a tree this morning" are good to be placed in their own topics for discussion. Special announcements such as the opening of a new transportation center should be placed in another section, such as General Operations. Also, general questions should be in their respective topic area as well. About the "Find this bus" thread. It's pretty interesting, but I'm wondering if we should have some sort of structure to make it easier to follow, either by posting each list of buses in a separate topic, or setting up a cutoff period for each list of buses (I'm more of a fan of the latter). It will make it a lot easier to follow along, and to see which buses to find. i believe the original idea was to send out a new list of buses weekly? How about sticking to that, or bi-weekly or monthly if that's too frequent? About the General Operations, it's really for something that spans more than one division, like bus/Regional Rail, trolley/RR, or bus/trolley, and for general administrative things with SEPTA. If you have a topic that fits completely into the bus division, heavy/light rail division, or RR division operations, please place that topic in the appropriate area. Now, these next three seem to confuse people. These topics are: Local Transit Systems Industry Topics Off-Topic For Local Transit Systems, any Transit Authority/Company related topic that is NOT SEPTA, DART, or NJT fits in here, regardless of its location. It doesn't necessarily have to be in this metropolitan area. However, please keep topics focus on land based transit operations. Land-based daily line haul services, like Greyhound, Trailways, and Amtrak services, would fit in here. Private charter operations do NOT qualify, and would go to the Off Topic section. Industry Topics refers to any bus/rail industry topic that is not in directly relation to a specific transit authority. This includes talk about bus manufacturers (like how Orion in NY is on strike right now). Also, anything about engines and vehicle parts would work here too, like why some people know that the 6v92TA is the best bus engine in the world! Also, please put general topics about vehicles (not related to specific TA's) in this section as well. If you want to gripe about the New Flyer infestation throughout the country, place the topic here. If you want to talk about NJT's Flxible Metro's, please put that in the NJT section. Now, for Off-Topic, it's for anything not land transit related. Talk about your cruise in this section. Talk about planes and such in this section. Gossip about celebreties here too, but please refrain from gossiping negatively about other members! Just please keep all topics here in good taste, as I'm sure you all will. I hope all of this info in this long post is understandable. I just think it will help us make the forum a little more streamined. Any questions, comments, suggestions? Please don't ever hesitate to contact me or any of the other managers. Actually, now that i bring that up, if you have a technical question with our site, please refrain from placing that in the announcement section. So we can best help you, we ask that you contact us directly, and, by maintaining a sort of dialogue, we can work stuff out. As always, thanks for being great members, and keep those interesting topics coming! |
