*NOTE* I re-posted this from the heavy rail section. How 'bout some real M4 madness? Around 4:30 today, an M4 Trainset broke down in the tunnel between 15th & 30th Sts. To be more accurate, I spotted it resting at the bottom of the Schuykill River tunnel before the uphill approach to 30th Street (In my opinion, the WORST place to have your train break down). Of course, there was the expected gridlock & mayhem. I boarded @ 8th St. to see a train go out of service to deadhead back to FTC via the crossover @ 5th st. Then its follower came, only for it to sit at the station for about 15 minutes. Once we got moving, there was a slow crawl to 11th, & then 13th where I made a break for the 34. As we passed the dead train, it appeared to still have riders on it. Man, I feel for those brave souls. There also seems to be a slow zone on the Westbound LRV track in the River tunnel, because we crawled the whole way through. This also happened on Tuesday morning. Last but not least, all trains were running on the Eastbound track between 15th & 30th Sts. |
