3430 today on the 75, the operator was alerted at 5th St. that he had no taillights. The normal pre-trip inspection showed them working. The plunger ( emergency) would active the brake lights but the foot pedal would not. Also, the bus had not been converted to heat , and was extremely cold early in the morning. After the sun warmed the bus up, it was passable. Both defects were reported. Another incident to report. A Route 5 bus was on I-95 a fews day ago, dead heading to Front & Market. The driver was stopped around Westmoreland by police for having no back lights. The police wanted him to sit there until daylight. Control was called and asked the driver "Could he bring the bus back to Frankford safely"? Route 59, 2001 block always has a Neo. "Ritchie", a little off his rocker, always has one. He had 3434 today. Ritche is the #2 man on Frankford Trackless. The Neo's are slowing dying...... Get your last rides. I do every week and will keep riding until the end. More fun at SEPTA. Oops! Forgot to login. Another question: Why does it seem that every single an460 has some weird engine sounds? |

I think its about time for the Neoplans to be retired....I saw 3486 on the route 5 yesterday though. Didn't brother to ride on it... Running buses without working taillights is highly illegal...and running them without heat is unacceptable for people paying $2 + just to ride... Now I see why when I visited frankford, they have most of their Neoplans inside of the complex. The Neoplans had a great run, but these units has deprecated badly due to wear and tear throughout the Philadelphia region for 18 years. Its time for these units to be retired now before their wheels starts to come off while in revenue service... |

Today rode the subway to and from Olney to Patterson for the Alzheimer's walk at Citizens Bank Park. At Olney, saw an Neoplan an460 on the C headed downtown. When I rode the subway today, both trains had the announcements. But coming back from Patterson, the announcements were not at every stop. Video Here of 5 minutes from Patterson northbound. |
