Also, anyone familiar with the Neos when one turns on the ignition, a bell(chime comes on) and they make a loud sound of puff before the ignition comes on?

You mean this?

As for the Neos, I will, without a shadow of a doubt, miss the smell of the interior of these buses after they've been cleaned out in the shops.

Oh yes, they sure do have a special smell to them. Not bad, and very faint, but its comforting :(.

I spotted the "clean bus" 8099 on the 17 earlier today and freshly painted 7112 on the 48. Yesterday I rode freshly painted and mini-overhauled 7102 on the 48. Full load and NO TURBO LAG!!!

Frankford District news:

Route 59 , 2003 block had a Nabi with a bad fare box. He took it in and they gave him a Neo. The driver was extremely upset with the Neo. He and a lot of other drivers(they may be exaggerating)say the fumes get to them, makes their eyes water, etc. The climate control seems to bring in the fumes when it is on.

That's fine, that will mean my driver on Route 75, 2102 block will always have one.

Speaking of Neo's , 6 of best are being saved for a choice at the end for our Farewell trip on March 30th. Maybe the last one will get some touch -up paint, tires Armor-Alled, good stuff like that, so we can get some lasting photos.

One of the buses to be saved for a choice is 3419, a real good Neo.

I remember when I was on 3432 the other day, Those flumes played havoc on my sinus. I don't remember the flumes on the Neoplans being that strong...

3432 runs really bad. They call it the "smoker". Watch it as it pulls away.
The Neo's will get progressively worse as the winter wears on. If SEPTA wasn't so short of buses, they would have scrapped them months ago.

With the 400 new bus order, the Nabi's will be next to go.

3432 was a charm while at Callowhill. Didn't make a noise, didn't offer a smell. A "smoothie". What happened?

I recall the 8500s assigned to Frankford, at around the spring of 1996, these buses didn't stink up as bad as the Neos currently do.

A bus like 8532 ran into March 1997 & even upon retirement, 8532 didn't smell up or cause havoc on anyones sinuses.
