The 5500s were already overhauled. Their overhaul was completed earlier this year. The next group of New Flyers to be overhauled will be the ZFers (5713-5830), then 5851-5950 (though they may do both groups at the same time considering the fact they are the same age). All of these buses will get a Cummins ISL 280 like the 5600s. |

Because they do not Sport the Detroit Diesel Series 50 275 HP DDEC IV EGR The 2003-2004 has these engines and as you notice they have extremely bad turbo lags due to the (Variable Nozzle Turbine) VNT turbochargers which they sport, as well as an EGR system were the 2003-2004 New Flyers (5613-5712 (2003), 5713-5830/5851-5950(2004). Detroit Diesel, has since pulled these engines off of the market due to emissions back in 2004. also these engines does not have enough EPA points to pass 2007 EPA emissions tests as well, nevertheless its 2010 tests... So my guess is that SEPTA wants a more cleaner fleet of buses by 2010 with the most current EPA approved engines in their buses... A more extensive explanation can be found here... http://www.philadelphiatransitvehicles.cjb...January2007.php Scroll down to 2003-2004 New Flyer Overhauls will include the Cummins ISL engine!- Comprendo? The 2001-2002 Fleet of buses will retain their DD50 series engines/Allison Transmissions, however, do not be surprised, if a few selected buses of the aforementioned fleet (2001-2002) will get the Cummins ISL engine. Also, the 2004 fleet of New Flyer D40LFs will RETAIN its ZF ECOMAT 2 6HP-592 Transmission as well. For the most current overhauls, please go to this page http://www.philadelphiatransitvehicles.cjb.net/overhaul.php Now remember this is based off of sightings and other information which we have in our passion. If anybody were to see overhauled buses which are not listed in the array of numbers, then please post about it in this thread. |

I have noticed that some of the An460's don't have any advertisements on the first half of the bus. Why is that? Are they getting new advertisements or something? |

On Monday rode 7212 on the 18 reading SEPTA and 7237 and 5928 on the 22. The stop request on 7212 does not work so if you are riding on 7212 and want to get off, you have to let the bus driver know that you are getting off the bus. |
