If I ran SEPTA. The Neoplan order would be delivered from 1983-1995. 400 Orion Vs would be delivered from 1997-2001. The 97, 98 and 00 order would be 100 buses per order and the 99s would be 80 as well as 20 in 01. The Neoplan AN460HFs would be from 1997 and 2004. The 97s would have DDC Series 50/B500R. And the 04s with DDC Series 60/Allison B500R. The 02 40fts would be Orion VIIs with DDC Series 50/Allison B400R. The 03-04 New Flyers would have DDC Series 50/B400R. The 05 New Flyers would have ISM/B400R. The 06 Flyers would be the old style end caps as well as Cummins ISM/Voith D864.3. And the 07 Flyers would be the D40LFRs with ISM/Voith D864.3. Buses from 93-99 would have Recaro AM31 driver seats with lap seatbelts as the original driver seat. And any AM31 that wares out would be replaced with a Recaro Ergo M with a lap seatbelt. All buses from 00 and newer would have Recaro Ergo M driver seats. They would be black vynal with cloth in the center of the apolstery. The 00 and 01s would have lap seatbelts. The 02 and newer orders would have shoulder strap seatbelts. The 02s and 03s would start off with black shoulder strap seatbelts. And depending on whether or not operators always wear their seatbelts would depend on what the seatbelt color is on buses from 04-07. If they do wear their seatbelts then the 04-07 orders would have black shoulder strap seatbelts. If not wearing their seatbelts is an issue the 04-07 buses would have orange shoulder strap seatbelts. And this year the 98-01 Orion Vs would get retrofit with the same driver seat as the newest Flyers have. If its Orange seatbelts the 02s and 03s seatbelts would be changed out to the orange seatbelts and the 98-01s would have new driver seats with orange seatbelts. No matter how new the existing driver seat is. For the Neoplans. The 92 Neoplans would be first to have the WCL in the front door. And they would probably be the oldest Neoplans left. Maybe the 93s. The 83-92 Neos would have 6V92TA/V731. And the 93-95 Neoplans would have Series 50/V731. The NABIs would have Series 50/B400R. The entire fleet would be numbered by the year. Any order with 100 buses or less would have 4 digit numbers and any order more then 100 would have the 5 digit numbers. So what would you do if you ran SEPTA? |

I would - Restore all Trackless/trolley routes (even the ones down in south philly) - Get rid of them Nabi's - Get all new flyer buses (HYBRID) - Get 100 MCI commuter Coaches for long routes - Make commercials promoting SEPTA - Extend the broad street line to chesnut hill, sothwest philly, and northeast philly -seats on the buses would be solid red & blue - on the mfl the seats would be blue and hard -no need to change the seats on the bsl - but the seats on the Subway srface would be green and hard |

If I ran SEPTA some orders would consist of hybrid buses. And at some point starting in 2009 each bus order would consist of at least 10 Articulated buses. Most of them would be at Allegheny and some would be at Midvale. And now that I think about it 2004 would be the first year that SEPTAs new buses have orange shoulder strap seatbelts for the operators. Then the 98-01s would be retrofit with new Recaro Ergo Ms with orange shoulder strap seatbelts. Same exact seat as the new buses would have. And the 02s and 03s would be retrofit with new orange shoulder strap seatbelts but not a new driver seats. Since its next to impossible to retrofit a shoulder strap seatbelt into a driver seat with a lap belt thats why 98-01s would get new driver seats and the 02s and 03s would only get new seatbelts. |

From 1995 I would have ordered besides NABI either 300 1996 Neoplan AN440's with the series 50/ZF6HP592 or Orion V's with the series 50/B400R 6spd. The Neo's/Orion V's would be numbered 3501-3800 with roof mounted AC from Sutrak. Instead of the El Dorado Transmark RE buses, Then in 1997 I would have ordered 50 30' New Flyer D30LF's with the series 50/B400R powertrain and 50 D35LF's with the series 50/ZF 6HP592 powertrain. They would all be numbered 1401-1500. I would have ordered 200 articulated buses, 150 AN460's (DD60/B500R 6spd) with 30 of those AN460's going to the suburban depots with suburban seating (20 to Victory and 10 to Frontier) and 50 New Flyer D60LF's (DD50/ZF 6HP602) and the D60LF's would be the first "sharks" to enter SEPTA's fleet, with all the artics numbered 7101-7300. Allegheny and Midvale would get the majority of the artics, then Callowhill, Comly and Southern getting the next majority. Then from 2001 to 2003 I would have ordered Orion VII's (ISL/B400R 6spd) with 20 Orion VII Hybrids (total 320 buses) and then from 2004-2006 I would have ordered New Flyer D40LF's (total 350 buses with the ISL280/ZF 6HP592) with 50 additional DE40LF's along with 25 DE60LF's for Southern numbered 7301H-7325H for routes 17, 37, 68 and 108,. The VII's would be numbered 5001-5300, with the Hybrids numbered 5301H-5320H, while the D40LF's would be numbered 5321-5670 while the Hybrids would be numbered 5671H-5720H. the Orion VII's and the D40LF's would have Sutrak roof AC. I would also order 40 E40LFR's from New Flyer and make 10 of those E60LFR's for the 66 and the E60LFR's would be at Frankford only. I would also make sure Wayne Junction would be renovated and turned into a transit center for the 2, 23, 33, 53, 56, XH and R. I would also discontinue running the H and combine it into the 53, since there would be no use for the H since it runs about 1/4 mile away from the 53. More to come. |

Now that I think about it the 1977-1985 buses would be RTSs and 1986-1995 would be Flxible Metros. The 77-81 RTSs would have 6V71/V730. And the 82-85 RTSs and the 86-92 Flxibles would have 6V92/V731. The 93-95 Flxibles would be Series 50/V731. Then would come Orion. The 93-95 Flxibles would have Recaro AM31s and so would the 97-99 Orion Vs. And the 00 Orion Vs would be the first Ergo Ms on the fleet. As well as the 01 and 02 Orions. And the 03 New Flyers and newer would also have Ergo Ms. And for driver seat replacements. This year all 98-01 buses would be retrofit with Recaro Ergo Ms equipped with orange shoulder strap seatbelts. All 02 and 03 buses which would originally have black shoulder strap seatbelts would get new orange shoulder strap seatbelts. As for 94-97s. Only the 94-97s where the driver seat wares out would be Ergo M and the others would have AM31. For replacements on the 94-97s. No matter how minor the technical problems with the driver seats are the seat would be replaced with a new Ergo M. Even 98-01s before the driver seat changeout. Or any bus on the fleet from 94 and newer. 93s and older would probably be changed out to Recaro Ergo S driver seats as the Ergo Ms cannot fit in the drivers cabin of a 93 Flxible. They can fit in the drivers cabin of 94 and 95 Flxibles. |
