Today after school, I rode route 105 from Radnor to Strafford. The bus is New Flyer D40LF. I thought it was Detroit Diesel, but when it approch to the departing stop, I can hear its Cummins ISL powered to Allison B400 |

Yep, that bus as well as 5652, 5654, 5655 are overhauled at Victory. Keep your eyes peeled to the Vehicle Overhaul page for a more intense listing of them throughout the system. |

I wish I could ride the New Flyers. Since I don't go to school in the city anymore, I rarely get to ride Septa. By now I would have rode many Cummins New Flyer's on the 18 & 22.

I just hope the mechanics don't go and govern them down later. I was on the expressway recently near Gulph Mills, and 5651 went flying past me like I was parked. I was doing about 62....LOL!! |

Yea I think the mechanics are given these engines the "break in" period which could explain the speeds exceeding the 62+mph... I know last weekend, I won't mention the bus but it was going 70mph plus on the expressway....I hope they never get to them as the drivers does need the extra speed...Same thing for a zfer which I will not give out its number which was going good highway speeds. |
