I'm starting this thread with the hopes of figuring out what kind of vehicles are on the nightliner (OWL) service of the routes with OWL service. It seems as though most nightliners are covered by New Flyers. Let's see how this works out with the list below.

6: 100% Neoplan Articulated (Allegheny)
10: K-cars unless there is a bustitution.
13: K-cars unless there is a bustitution. (On a side note, anyone know what hours the Chester Avenue shuttle between 49th and 40th Streets operates?)
14: I guess New Flyers but could be Ikaruses.
15: Probably PCC-IIs maybe an occassional bus.
17: New Flyers (probably 8000s most of the time).
18: This one I'm not sure about.
20: New Flyers but maybe Iks.
23: I would say New Flyers but I wouldn't be surprised if an Ikarus was out there.
33: 100% Neoplan Articulated.
36: K-cars unless there is a bustitution.
42: This one I can say for certain that it's New Flyers, usually 5400s but sometimes a ZFer sneaks in.
47: I would guess New Flyers.
52: I think it's New Flyers but I wouldn't be surprised if an Ikarus was on there.
56: I'd guess New Flyers.
60: 100% Neoplan Articulated.
65: Neoplan Articulated (5201 block, assigned to Allegheny).
66: My guess would be New Flyers.
68: Not really an OWL route, but it is mostly New Flyers.
73: My guess would be New Flyers.
79: Probably New Flyers.
108: Mostly New Flyers.
109: Almost all New Flyers, however, the first nightliner Mon-Fri occassionally gets an Ikarus.
G: Probably New Flyers.
L: I'd say New Flyers.
R: Probably mainly New Flyers as well.
BSO: Runs out of Midvale can be New Flyers or Neoplan Artics. Southern runs are just about all New Flyers.
MFO: Primarily New Flyers out of Callowhill and Frankford. Callowhill has the second run out of FTC which only does a one way trip and is interlined with the 52 during the week and something else on weekends as this trip can be an Ikarus. Comly only has a couple of runs later in the morning which deadhead from 69th Street to become Route 1 buses and these are probably New Flyers.

I know that Frankford owls are whatever buses that are line up next to the depot on pratt st. Most of the time they r usually the Nabis but lately i have seen a lot of new flyers on the MFO, R, & 73. So they may be mixing them up day to day. BSO during the summer was using the artics on friday & saturday night it rare to see those on bso any other time of the year. All victory owls (108, 109) are new flyers.

Up 'til late August, Frankford's coverage of the MFO was NABI exclusive. Now only 2782 block uses a NABI. Callowhill (9901-9904 blocks) and Comly (1151 block) tend to be New Flyer exclusive.

With the 47 (3300, 3301 & 3558 blocks), Midvale is kinda blase with what they send out. Usually its an older NABI or Flyer. However I've been spotting 5600 overhauls lately.

I have ridden 5302 on one occasion on the 108, back in April.

With the L bus and BSO (from personal experience):

L: a mixture of both New Flyers and recently NABIs
BSO: mainly New Flyers with the occasional NABI...I've never noticed a Southern NABI, but there are always hybrids on the line.

They're guaranteed to be on 7275 and 7276 blocks (one right behind the other).

Also, would anyone agree with me in saying that assigning a rookie a major high speed/no padding tripper? I had one this morning on the 108/4379 (that immediately signaled trouble since its normally 4376). First, she pulled up to UPS seven minutes down, and pulled right back out to go to the employment center (there IS a general rule for both Red Arrow and Southern that after midnight, all recovery and layovers are to be taken at the West Gate at UPS til 7 in the morning.) When she came back, she was ten down.

Now for all of you 108 lovers out there, how can you lose twenty minutes en route at 4 in the morning, without a crush crowd?

I kid you not, that trip pulled into 69th 28 down with a load of steaming commuters that has missed every connection from hell to breakfast?

I heard from an Unknown source that frankford will stop running flyers on the weekends and will use all neoplan an 440 and nabis. i wonder if that will happen. it would be great to ride a AN440 instead of a nabi..

Sounds like a bad rumor if you ask me, theres not enough buses (NABI, Neoplans) there to fully cover those trips.

Yeah, and the flying pigs from the Inquirer will be drivin' em.

As much as I don't see that happening, stranger things have, not to mention, they may run the older buses for mileage reasons.

*Note* There was film activity at City Hall all day today, complete with fake news trucks. I spotted an artic and a NABI being used in the mix. Anyone else catch it?

I agree. If they were to make do on their objective(no New Flyers on weekends), they would have to do the following:

1- have all trips covered by Comly on Saturdays

Headways on the 5 & 25 would have to be adjusted accordingly:

a-The 25 would lose premium service to Columbus Commons- service would be reduced to 60 minutes from 30 minutes, with more weekend service terminating @ Front & Spring Garden Streets).

b- the 5 would suffer the most, headways would have to be adjusted to every 45 minutes on weekends & holidays.

88- have all trips covered by Comly on weekends & holidays

J, K & R- split the three routes between Comly & Frankford on weekends & holidays

R- Elminate all Ridge & Midvale Avenue trips on weekends & holidays.

Or, they could be talking about sidelining the 5500s assigned to Frankford on weekends & holidays.

At Comly, they sideline the 5900s on weekends & holidays.
