The other day i was on the trolley and the person in front of me was reading the METRO and it was article about transit agencies getting smart with new fare collection systems. It stated and i also seen it on SEPTA's website that they are planning to upgrade and build a new fare collection system in the coming. I think it is good that SEPTA is finally moving along and waking up on this idea. Using SMARTCARDS and other faster methods for using the system is a good direction. I think it will be faster and better. I think far as the design SEPTA should go with eiether the *NYC MTA Fare collection *PATCO FARE COLLECTION ![]() OR both in a mix of influence ?, or maybe their own design.? |

It will be ready in a few years, so for the mean time we are stuck with what we have. |

I'd think SEPTA would do best with its own design...they seem pretty ambitious with thier "open smart card" idea. besides, MTA NYC is planning on upgrading the system again. |

When Septa does make a new fare system, I hope it allows you to travel on Septa, Patco, and NJT with one card. |

That would be nice, but I'm not sure the Freedom system would allow it. Would be great if the Freedom Card would be compatible with the SEPTA system. Maybe a card based off Freedom would work - who knows? |

As long as the Transpass or a weekly equivalent pass is retained, I will be happy. I DO NOT want to lose the virtual un-liminted ride value in favor of "cash cards." |
