I do hope they adjust the running time of the schedule accordingly when they add the artics to the route. As we all know, the artics are simply not as fast (acceleration-wise) as the NABIs and Flyers that currently dominate the route. |

My Artics do suck operating Block to block, that is true. HOWEVER, with the stops further apart on the Boulevard, they can open up rather nicely (and in my opinion, the only thing that can keep up with a Juggernaut that is a Neo Artic at speed is a Repowered 5600! |

you would have to restore service on the 26 if you had the 8 bus ran 7 days a week. and thru out the day. is the 14 really going to midvale, then that means that the 20 will unspit with the 14, and wont have the same block series anymore. |

I think SEPTA should space the 14 stops along the Blvd....because esp. on the 60 footers all of that "stop and go" is just tired and the 60 Footers do pick up speed once the road is clear (TRUST ME....ROUTE 65....LOL). I wonder how many are going to be stored at Comly or Frankford ? |

There is no Route 65! There IS the GERMANTOWN HIGH SPEED LINE that ironically runs over the same routing as the 65, but its the GHSL. |

A SEPTA rail supervisor from Victory was at my school today to do a talk with some of the students. His wife is a co-worker of mine. I was chatting with him about all the proposed changes. He says there is a lot of ideas floating around right now with ridership going up and management is actually trying to plan even further ahead with gas prices predicted to go higher. From what he has heard the majority of changes will occur with the September 08 and February 09 schedule changes. He didn't know much about changes within the City Division put he mentioned a few ideas floating around Suburban management. 1. Expanding the 100 schedule across the board - the biggest changes coming with weekend service. 2. Reducing the headways on the 101/102 with some peak trips operating with 2 car sets. 3. Restructuring of the 108 and 113 - WHICH INCLUDED the possibility of runiing artics on the 2 lines. From what he has heard there is a serious proposal to take away the all artic status away from Alleghany and spread the fleet out. 4. He heard rumor of a new route from Chester TC to King of Prussia via the Blue Route (I-476) for people going to work at the mall. 5. The next batch of New Flyers is due in July/August. From what he has heard most will go to city depots with a handful to Victory. To help with the increased service no buses are to be retired until the 2009 batch of New Flyers arrives. He says the new service is great but be on the look out. The unions know SEPTA has money so they are going to expect more in the next contract. He says the UTU at Victory is already grumbling about the new service because that will mean longer runs and the majority of runs at Victory average 10+ hours already. He has heard rumblings the UTU might fight any increase in service unless more operators are hired. His exact words were "you have been warned". And he also noted that this is all preliminary and nothing has been approved yet so don't expect anything to soon. Nice little chat. Only time will tell |

What's even funnier is the operator shortage on Red Arrow. Red Arrow is down (at last count) 30 drivers. There are rookies that are managing to get hold downs (permanent runs) right from the gate. Everywhere else they're working the boards for several YEARS before getting a run. Want some quick money, work the extra list at Red Arrow, IF you can snag a bus. |
