If they share the artics operating on the 6 & 54 they might have enough

The 6 NEEDS Artics on weekdays BECAUSE of those kids. And the 54 has too many school trippers attached to it.

Food for thought: Just how many schools are along or is within walking distance of the 6, and ROUGHLY what time do they dismiss. I'll make it simpler, just name middle and high schools.

I haven't been near the 6 in a long time but three schools do come to mind: Central, Girls HIgh, and Kinsey Elementary I know you just said middle and high schools but I remember the 6 taking me to school when I was younger. The reason why the 54 may have seemed not very crowded to me is because I've only riden it in the summer.

Wait until late September when they're back, settled in, and the new crews formed. The 33, 54, and ANY Germantown route becomes deathtraps (when I was still working at UPS and doing Twilight/Midnight Doubles I either had to be on the bus by 2.30 or on the train because at 3.00, EVERYBODY is released and Chelten Avenue becomes free-for-all with all those BeBe's Kids. I had to be at 1 Hog Island Road by 6.)

Wait until Dobbins Tech goes back into session. And I think Strawberry Mansion High School is close to the 54 as well. There are also quite a few Sunday trippers thanks to that large church at 21-Lehigh (the site of the old Connie Mack Stadium).

Very little of Central's population uses the 6. Most of us use the 8/18/26/28/70, or take the BSL to City Hall, where most take the MFL to points in West Philly and Frankford.

gotta love school coming right back around the corner. that is SEPTA's dumb @$$ fault for just ordering 155 artics. now look at the problems they are facing. all of these service inprovments for 2009 could have been reduced if they would have ordered more than just 155 artics, DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah i forgot. us enthusiasts are too smart for SEPTA. they still stuck in the 20th century.

As I mentioned before, SEPTA can go to New Flyer and ask them to change one of the next 300 buses on order, to 60ft. models and paid them the cost difference.
